The lighting in the refrigerator and dim and out.....how can I replace them and where can I get the parts
For model number GSS25IYNXHFS
Hi Stanley,
Thank you for your question. The part number for the light board assembly is PS11767930. To remove and install the light board assembly, unthread the screws securing the light diffuser and remove it. Then unplug the old light board and set it aside. Then plug the new light board assembly in and reinstall light diffuser and secure it with the screws. We hope this helps!
HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN WATER FILTER NEEDS CHANGING? HOW OFTEN?
For model number GSS25IYNXHFS
Hello Barbara, thank you for contacting us. If you notice a decrease in the water flow, a change in taste or odor, or an increase in the number of particles or sediment in the water, the water filter will need to be replaced. The general recommendation is to replace the filter every six months or after dispensing 170–300 gallons of water, whichever comes first. The water filter for your refrigerator is part number PS16217433. We hope this information helps!
The upper left led light on the refrigerator side was not working. The other lights in the refrigerator side were on but very dim. I replaced the led on upper left with a new one. It lites up but all lights on that side remain very dim. I then replaced the door switch with a new one. All the lights remain DIM. All lights in the freezer work perfectly. Help please. Control board appears to be in good shape. Thanks

Hi Nelson, thank you for reaching out. Loose connections or damaged wiring can cause voltage drops and dim lights. As you have already replaced the LED light board, we would suggest checking the wire harness. You may need to reinstall it to fix the issue. We hope this sorts out your problem!

ice maker will not stop making ice until you turn it off
For model number GSS25IYNXHFS
Hello Dave, thank you for getting in touch. The ice production is halted when a plastic flap or metal feeler arm is pushed up or out by the accumulating ice. If the shut-off arm or sensor flap is caught in the lowered "empty" position. Inspect the assembly for built-up ice that might be locking the arm in place. If it's frozen, you can gently melt the ice using a hair dryer on a low setting or carefully chipping the ice away. If the ice bucket is not pushed all the way back or sits crooked on its shelf, the ice level arm won't align properly with the falling ice, causing the maker to continuously dump cubes. Slide the bucket entirely into place and ensure nothing is preventing it from resting flat. We hope this helps.

I went to a GE repair center to explain my problem, the service center reccomended that I have a techinician come out o look at it. $75.00 for the visit and what ever labor and materials wuld cost.
I went on line to see if there were others having this same problem and found that there were many with the same problem.
After reading some of the ways that people found out what was wrong ...it became a matter of three components, the timer, heater or thermostat.
I tried the most common component and the less expensive one first , the thermostat switch I installed it very easily snipping two wires and attaching the news using wire nuts I used the diagram on this website to pinpoint the component and there has not been a problem since.
I read in a previous post how to do the job from outside fridge which saved me lots of time. No need to remove inner door lining. Here is my procedure: 1.Turned off power. 2.Snapped off outside trim ring. 3.Located three small holes inside lip just above ice tube. The center hole was not used. 4.Pushed rather firmly up through two remaining holes with small Allen wrench to release front control panel. 5.Removed (3) wire connectors from printed circuit board. Firmly pull/pry them straight out as lifting on retaining clip will break it off. I broke one & had to elect. tape it back in place later although I doubt it would have ever come off. 6.Release secondary panel by removing (4) screws. The problem was obvious as the solenoid had broken the crank arm off the flapper rod & trapped it open 7.Replaced solenoid, crank arm with flapper attached, spring & micro switch. Switch was okay but I changed anyway. 8.Cleaned all areas with 1/10 bleach water to sanitize. 9.Re-installed evrything in reverse order & all is okay. Thanks to someone for telling about those two small holes. Made job easy versus a very hard one.
