Why would this model make a grinding noise only on the final spin cycle. Everything else works perfectly.

Hello Brian, Thank you for the question. I suggest checking the Bearing for wear or damage. The Bearing is part of the Rear Outer Tub Assembly, PartSelect Number PS418071. We hope this helps!
Hello,
I’m looking for some advice regarding our Frigidaire washing machine (model FTF1240FS2), which I believe is the original unit that came with the home. We’ve noticed a light water leak coming from underneath the washer whenever the main water supply line is open. Once we shut off the inlet water valve, the leaking stops. Unfortunately, we don’t have enough space to access the back of the machine to inspect the hose connections or determine exactly where the leak is coming from. Please help. Thanks for your advise. Appreciate it.

Hello Walter, thank you for contacting us. Based on our research, the most likely cause of the mentioned issue is a failing water inlet valve, where over time, the valve body may crack, internal seals can wear out, or the hose connection points can loosen and start leaking. Since the inlet valve stays under constant water pressure when the supply is on, it can drip continuously underneath the machine and stop immediately when the main water shutoff valve is closed. Replacing it might help fix the issue. The part number is PS815534. We hope this sorts out your problem!
I’m seeking advice regarding our Frigidaire washing machine (model FTF1240FS2), which appears to be the original unit installed in our home.
We’ve recently noticed a slight leak—specifically, light water droplets forming at the point where the hose connects to the inlet valve. This issue is occurring only on the cold water inlet line. When we shut off the cold water supply valve, the leaking stops.
Given that the hoses were installed about 12 years ago, we’re unsure whether the issue is due to a worn-out hose or a problem with the inlet valve itself.
Any guidance or insight into what might be causing this issue—and the best way to address it—would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help

Hello Walter, thank you for getting in touch. Given that the hoses are 12 years old, well past the recommended replacement interval of 3 to 5 years, we would recommend replacing the full hose rather than just the washer. The replacement for the inlet hose is part number PS468114 (2 needed). We would also recommend replacing both the hot and cold hoses at the same time since they are the same age. We hope this helps.
Hello Satwinder, thank you for reaching out. According to our research, we would recommend checking that the load is properly balanced. If this is most the issue, then you may need to replace the timer, part number PS1524650, to fix the issue. Glad to be of assistance!
This was one of the simpliest repairs I have ever done taking less than 5 minutes to complete. On the inner door I removed the two screws that hold the plastic catch in place. I then removed the broken catch and put the new catch in place. Finally I replaced the two screws that hold the catch in place and it was done.
1. Unplug unit. 2. Unscrew 2 nuts holding top in place in rear of unit using phillips head screwdriver. 3.Slide top back and remove. 4. Open door of washer and unscrew 2 screws holding in door lock unit. 5.Pull out unit from the top and install new unit reconnecting the 3 wire connections.
removed 2 screws and removed top access cover. removed 2 screws and removed front access cover. removed 4 retaining pins (one with nammer and punch because it was stuck) connected lower ends of new shocks with plastic pins, extended each shock to slip fit and connected upper ends to wash tub mounts. Reinstalled panels. I wish I could say that it all went well from there but......when the shocks broke, apparently the hit the motor took was enough to cause an electronic failure of the speed cycle control chip. Now Im waiting for that part.
