The metal door latch broke off and is stuck in the other part. Do we replace the part it is stuck in. And how does that come out.

We would recommend replacing the door latch, part number PS11766033, and the door lock switch, part number PS12365826, since the trapped metal likely ruined the internal contacts. To get the old door lock switch out, remove the two screws on the front frame, peel back the rubber door boot seal, and reach behind the metal panel to pull it out. We hope this helps!
I googled the problem, read the recommendation found the part and read that it was an easy fix. Took the broken part off the door and noticed the broke off piece was in the latch on the machine. Ordered the two parts, paid the $30 2-day delivery. Parts arrived and the machine was up and runnning in under 5 minutes
Remove two screws on attachment plate slide door lock plate out. Disconnect wire harness. Remove two screws on back side. Then reverse the process, done!
P.S. don't pay $32 for next working day it still took 3 days to arrive. doesn't help when your leaving in two.
Unscrewed the two screws holding the latch and screwed on the new one. Took less than 5 minutes. The best part was that I ordered the latch on Friday and it was delivered on Saturday!
