DVM1850SMC01 General Electric Microwave - Instructions

the online instructions were ideal - just unscrewed the right-hand screw (the only screw) and replaced the bulb by inserting gently but firmly)...getting the old bulb out was a pain, b/c it shattered in my grasp (with little bits of glass all over the stove!), but that has nothing to do with the purchase and installation from this site - all a very good experience

I followed the instructions provided by others on-line who had done a similar repair. I removed a handful of screws, disconnected the wires from the old drive motor and connected them to the new drive, replaced the screws that held the drive motor in place, and those that held the bottom housing in place, and I was done. Literally took less than 10 minutes. If I had known earlier how easy it was, the microwave would have been fixed much earlier.

Troubleshooting process:
Using a screw driver I opened the bottom of the unit using a Philips screwdriver and unhooked the drive motor electrical connector. Using a multimeter I checked to ensure power to the motor. This confirmed that the motor is bad and must be replaced.

Repair process:
After receiving new motor I removed the old motor and installed the new one using a Philips screwdriver and closed up the bottom cover.

It functioned good as new. Relatively cheap and very easy fix.

The replacement of the light no problem, the reason the light broke; problem. The original was glued in (for transport i think) and simply trying to unscrew it out (in a very tight slot) it broke; be careful or you’ll be buying a new $20 bulb (with shipping and handling).

Unpugged microwave. Removed the screws on the bottom cover of the micorwave. Unpugged drive motor and removed two screws from drive motor. Installed new motor and replaced the bottom cover, plugged in microwave . . . presto!

First I removed the screws that were underneath the microwave. Once I did that I disconnected the wires to the bulbs and removed the screws that were attached to the holder lamp. replaced the parts and reversed the process. It went really smooth.

First remove all screws holding on outer metal casing of microwave. Next remove the back and bottom metal pieces. You will then be able to pull aside the outer casing so you can access the door switches. Check each switch with an ohm meter in both the open position and with the switch closed. If the ohm meter reads the same in both the open and closed position, the switch is bad. Check the top switch first. Replace switch and reassemble. Cheap fix for a costly microwave. Removed one screw, removed cover, and replaced lamp. Pretty straightforward.

Un screwed the cover but when i tried to remove the bulb it was broken at the base. I disconnected the power and used neddle nosed pliers to remove the base

She followed up (as I called on a Saturday am) on Monday and reported to me that the item was lost. She then asked me if I wished to place another order. Use a small screwdriver to depress the flexible clip on the side of the old holder while you wiggle it out of its hole. Gently hammer down the edges of the hole so that the surface is flat. This will make for a tighter fit when you snap the new holder into the hole. Just slide the new piece into position and the job is done.

just set the glass turntable in and bingo it worked

Opened cover, pulled out old bulb, inserted new one, put cover back on. I was out of town when bulbs arived, my wife put it in. She said it was easy.

Removed one screw, slid frame out and removed broken glass. replaced bulb. The hard part was slidding the frame back in place and starting the screw. We were very surprised at the fast delivery of the parts, thank you. The sad part, a few days later the glass broke again. We are trying to get to the people at GE to solve our problem. We feel like that will not happen, we just do not have the time to stay on hold on the phone waiting for someone to solve our problem. Will reorder glass.

Easy to repair. One screw, remove bulbs, replace with new ones, secure screw.
