the lint filter wasn't replaced and someone operated the gas dryer.( I heard a screetch and a hum)---so I am fairly certain something got sucked into the blower(?)...it got past the frame of the lint filter
how is the best way to get to this part? (I believe I need to take the front off the dryer and access the blower wheel?
For model number DLGX3876V
Hello P, thank you for reaching out. We have provided some relevant instructions which may not be of the exact same model but will help while getting access to the blower wheel. In order to access the blower wheel, un-thread the screws securing the main top. Un-thread the screws securing the control panel, disconnect the wires of the control panel. Now un-thread the screws securing the front panel and set the front panel aside. Un-thread the screws securing the duct housing to the blower assembly. Now lift the front bulkhead up and pull it forward to remove. You will have access to the blower wheel and can remove anything stucked in it. Glad to be of help!

Dryer does not work showing check filter . Filter is clean and door switch is working good.
For model number DLGX3876V
Hello and thank you for writing.
The electronic display on an LG dryer includes a "Check Filter" warning light. The light is primarily for convenience and does not indicate a major malfunction.
We suggest to try a hard reset:
Go to your breaker box and shut the breakers for your unit off, wait 5 minutes and then turn the breaker to on again. That should hopefully clear this problem. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime if you require further assistance.

Removed existing parts using screwdriver, positioned new parts in dryer and re-inserted screws, tightened - done. Piece of cake, even for someone who cannot saw a straight line with a chop saw.
Found disassembly video and watched several times. Suspected that one of the drum wheels had seized up. Found extreme volume of lint and hair inside unit as well as a dryer sheet melted on top of heating unit. Front left drum wheel was worn down from lint and hair jamming its movement. Video made it easy, not a really complicated piece of machinery. Replaced all 4 wheels due to normal wear on other three. Wanted to be sure drum evenly balanced on all 4. Parts came quickly and were easy to install. My sister and I did this together. Would not recommend doing it alone. Took time to vac and wipe down entire unit. Now it runs so quiet we have to look to see if it is operating. Got a brand new machine out of it, saved a couple of hundred dollars in repair bills, and found 11 cents inside the machine. For your own piece of mind, if you have had your dryer for several years, you need to open it up and clean it out. Its not hard... added note, we are both in our 60's... so if we can do it so can you.... Such a feeling of accomplishment, can't buy that in a store....
I bought the whole dryer filter kit, but turns out I only needed the dryer filter and am very happy about that. No tools necessary I just slid it right in. It fit perfectly and I no longer have anxiety about my clothes coming out ripped.
