88890 Jenn-Air Cooktop - Instructions

First pulled the two screws holding the control with the switches. Then I unscrewed the nut holding the 6" burner switch and disconnected the wires on the switch and replaced the switch with the new one. Replaced the control unit in the range top and tested the repair.

Got a no-name tailor-it-yourself replacement switch from a San Jose, CA appliance parts store; but the switch was so cheaply made that it fell apart when I tested it.

Got a RobertShaw part from PartSelect and now the burner works perfectly.

Just replaced the element and put new rock grate supports on the rock grates and we're set to grill

The Model number could no longer be read clearly on the stove electric grill with a down draft vent system, so all I had was the size and looks of the old grease/air filter. I was very happy to come across Parts Select by way of an amazon.com search. Their web site's design and the parts pictures with detailed descriptions made it easy to find exactly what I needed. The grease filter fit perfectly in no time. I have successfully used my cooking grill again.

Simply pulled the old ones off and pressed on the new control knobs. It took less than 10 minutes, saved us from replazcing an otherwise nice looking range top, and made a big deposit in my "Honey do" account. Changing the socket with a new one simply required removing one screw and splicing the two existing wires to the pigtails on the new socket. It took longer to unpack the replacement part than actually doing the job.

First, I removed the two screws holding the element in place. I removed the element from the connector. I then removed the trim ring and drip pan. I unscrewed the retaining screw holding the connector and pulled out the connector about three inches and disconnected the two wires leading to from the old connector. I removed the old connector. I then connected the two wires leading from the new connector and fasten the connector to its retainer with a screw . I reinserted the drip pan and trim ring and plugged the new element into the connector. I turned on control knob to high and tested the element., which glowed red hot. Job completed and customer very well satisfied..

I TURNED OFF THE POWER TO THE GRILL FIRST. Then Removed the knob on the top face plate and then removed the 2 self tapping screws at the high end and this allowed the face plate to be pushed forward. And allowed access to remove the switch I removed the wires one at a time and replaced them on the new switch. All done in 20 minutes.

Had to drill out screw for old connector bracket and also had to extend wires from controls this took most time. Once done with this used wire cutters to strip back insulation and then put the whole mess back together also used a larger wire nut to reconnect wires.

First I removed a screw that held the element in place then disconnected the two wires . Then I just reattached the two wires put the screw back in place and was done in about 10 minutes. Fairly easy fix, I had this go out a few years ago and had a repairman fix it, and saw how easy it was, so this time I did it myself. Easy job!!

Our stove is from 1978 and was missing all but one drip bowl. I bought all the replacement parts from all the store, (Walmart, Target, Fred Meyer) nothing fit. I finally found this site and they fit perfectly! Thank you. If I have to keep the stove a while longer at least it looks clean and new now, and it still works great!

Turned off power at breaker. Removed screws holding control knobs in position. Removed knob and unscrewed nut holding switch in place. Noted wire positions and undid connections. Connected wires to new unit. Replaced nut and screws and control knob. Restored power and checked operation. You can do this. Don't call an electrician.

removed burner and recepticle and replaced new one. You don't have any place to comment on service, so I'll put it here. I talked to Herb and ordered parts with him on a Monday afternoon. He was very helpful. The part came Thursday about noon and I immediatly installed parts and my wife cooked supper (thats southern for the evening meal) that night. A really wonderful experience. 1. Shut the breaker off; Jenn-Air's design will have you working around hot leads if you don't.
2. Raise the control panel
3. Remove burner and unscrew the burner connector; trace the wires back to the control panel bottom and remove them
4. On the replacement connector, add the electrical for the control panel. These are not included and can be found at any hardware store; they are a standard size.
5. Connect the new wires and put everything back together.
6. Reset the break and test.
