Why does a humming sound start when opening the door before entering a cook operation?

Hello Paul, thank you for your inquiry. The problem seems to be with the magnetron. If the magnetron is damaged or nearly burned out, it may begin emitting high-pitched sounds or humming noises. This indicates that the magnetron might be defective and needs to be replaced. The part number is PS4251316. We hope this solves your problem!

All features seem to be in full operational mode, with exception to the heating element. Does the High-voltage Transformer Part# DE26-001268 remedy this problem.

You need to check the following parts to fix the issue: Micro Switch, part number PS11741686, High-Voltage Diode, part number PS4235633, and Capacitor, part number PS4130920. The repair was very easy, however the bulb was not the same as the original one. The original bulb had a bright setting and a low setting, but the replacement bulb was only the low setting bulb. There was no bright and dim operation. The switch on the microwave had the duel settings.
Removed control panel, discharged HV capacitor. Removed old diode, tested to confirm failure. Replaced part. Other than the removal of the panel swapping the part was almost as easy as replacing a light bulb.
I removed the outer cover and exposed the inner workings. I watched a video on partselect.com to show how to remove and replace the Diode. I followed the instructions and it was very easy to replace.
Unfortunately, the diode was only part of the issue. I ended up replacing the High Voltage capacitor and Magnetron also. Those were a little more complicated but still easy to do.
Now the Microwave works just like new! Cost me less than $100 for all parts.
