The ice maker in freezer P/NO 5988JA0002Y would leak water and make giant ice block
I ordered and replaced the ice maker. To replace:
1. Go behind refrigerator and unplug electrical cord and turn off water supply.
2. In freezer locate electrical plug for ice maker. It has two tabs on the left and right side of it. Lift the tabs and pull the plug to disconnect it.
3. Remove the three screws, 2 on top and 1 on bottom of ice maker You can actually leave the screws in place if you loosen them sufficiently and lift the ice maker off of the screws and washers.
4. Install the new ice maker using the screws and plastic washers to secure it.
5. Plug the electrical connector for ice maker into the receptacle. Note: The plug only goes one way and is keyed with different shaped plugs and holes. The wires on my plug naturally fell upside down so I had to turn the plug 180 degrees to make it fit in the slot.
6. Turn on water and check for leaks.
7. Plug back in refrigerator and you should have ice in less than 12 hours.

Dose the ice maker kit include all necessary parts to install the ice maker? As an example, water inlet valve, supply line, ice cube container, etc.
For model number LTCS20020
Hello Robert, Thank you for the question. This is just the Ice Maker. The Valve and Tubing ect. are sold separate. We hope this helps!

My ice maker works once in a while and then it makes a humming and ice maker unit makes a straining noise
For model number LG Refrigerator model # LFC23760ST
Hi Tim,
Thank you for your question. If your ice maker is making a humming sound, it may not be getting water from the water inlet valve. To verify if the water inlet valve is working, you will need to inspect it. Before you inspect and test the water inlet valve, please unplug the refrigerator from the electrical outlet. Remove the rear access panel and locate your water inlet valve, it is usually found near the bottom. Before removing the water inlet valve, look for any signs of leaks or loose connectors in the valve inlet supply. If no issues are found, inspect the valve body for any cracks or damage. Inspect the outlet tubing for any brittle tubing, abrasions, cracks, or any other damage. If you do not locate any leaks, disconnect the water inlet valve and remove it from the refrigerator to test it. Set your multimeter to the Rx1 setting and touch the terminals with the probes. You are testing for continuity and should receive a reading of 200 to 500 ohms. If you receive any other reading, you need a replacement water inlet valve. If you have any questions, please let us know. We are open 7 days a week. We look forward to hearing from you!

Does the replacement icemaker include the ice tray (not the bin where the ice drops?
For model number LG LDC22720ST
Hello David, thank you for your question. Yes, the icemaker comes with the ice tray where the water sits to freeze. Per your model number the icemaker is PartSelect Number PS3528723, not the one that was referenced. I hope this helps.
I am getting ice on the bottom of the freezer floor under the Ice maker. I don't see a leak from the ice maker when it fills with water? I clean it up and a few days later there is ice on the bottom of freezer.
For model number LTC24380ST00
Hello Kevin, thanks for contacting us. We would recommend checking the following parts to fix your issue: the water valve (PS3533114), the icemaker fill tube guide (PS3535255), and also check for any damages or obstructions in the water lines in the back of the fridge. Hope this helps, good luck with this repair.
We bought the ice maker model number above. The shipment is the icemaker unit only and does not include any of the mounting hardware (screws, round plastic mounting disks) or the water guide spout that slides onto the end of the ice maker. How can I get these items to do the installation?
For model number 5989JA0002Y
Hi Bob,
Thank you for your question. Before we can provide you with information on the mounting hardware and the water guide spout, we will need the model number from your refrigerator. We have included a link from our website that you may use to find the model number on it. If you could resubmit your question with this information, we would be happy to help you. We are open 7 days a week. We look forward to hearing from you!
