Thank you for your question. If there is ice build up behind the back panel in the refrigerator, you should check both the defrost sensor and the defrost heater. Before removing and testing these parts, please unplug the refrigerator from the electrical outlet. To test the sensor, you will need to place it in ice water for 5 minutes to bring it down to 32 degrees F. Once the thermistor has reached the correct temperature, you will need to test it for continuity with a multimeter. Set the multimeter to the Rx1 setting and place the probes onto the terminals. You should receive a reading of 16,600 ohms (+/- 5 percent). If you receive a reading outside this range, you will need to replace the temperature sensor. When testing the defrost heater on the Rx1 setting, you should receive a reading between zero and infinity. If you receive a reading of either zero or infinity, you will need a replacement defrost heater. We hope this helps!
