Dishwasher Door Spring Assembly w/Adjusting Hook 675611

I have a Kenmore model that can either be totally installed under counter, left on casters or in my case installed permanently with the 'portable' covers still on. A model that is only for installation in a cabinet may be different.
Open door part way and flex the plastic hinge 'pins' on the kick plate out of the door itself. Once these are out you can close the door and lay the kick plate down towards you. This will expose a spring that is attached to pins on either side of the kick plate and held in place by a rubber cap. Remove the cap, pull the loop of the spring off the pin, and repeat for the other side. At this point you can remove the kick plate and set aside out of the way.
There is a second plate behind the kick plate held in place by four screws. Remove the screws with a Phillips head screw driver or a 1/4 inch wrench or socket, then remove the plate and set aside.
Now you have exposed the frame rails that somewhat hide the springs, one on each side. If you are lucky, like I was, only one is broken so you can use the other as a guide. Also the installation drawings that came with the part were very helpful. The information supplied by Kenmore in the parts list was no help at all.
Follow the 'assembly' found in the kit to assemble the 3 parts of the spring. A this time you may want to open the door halfway then close it and reopen a couple of times and observe how the tail of the door hinge moves, this will show you where the spring is attached. The spring is mostly hidden behind the frame rails but the two connection points are visible with the help of a flashlight. If one of the springs in still connected, observe the two connection points, one on the tail of the door hinge (top of spring) and the other in a series of slots in the frame rail.
With the door closed, hold the spring assembly in one hand (easier said than done) and hook the top of the assembly over the hook on the door hinge. Let it hang down in place and slip the lower part of the assembly into one of the slots. Again if one of the springs is still in place just use the same location as before. If both springs are missing, use one of th slots in the middle.
Only one of my springs were broken but I installed new ones on both sides as cheap insurance against doing this again in a few months.
Step by step appears a bit complicated but the whole thing only took about 10 minutes.

I removed the lower panel and looked at the directions supplied with the spring. attached the new spring. replaced the panel which only involved four screws. about a thirty min. job.

My dishwasher is an under the counter mounted model. No need to pull it out or move it. I used a screwdriver to remove the casing on the bottom of dishwasher. I then removed another piece that was just behind this casing. When this was done I could see where the springs were on either side of machine right in the front, - easy access. I followed the directions that came with the part. Three simple pieces came in clear bag. You first put plastic red end onto end of long metal piece and put it through the spring. Hook it into place by catching one end of spring. I took notice of how broken springs were hanging in machine and then replaced the new spring. I hung one end of spring on the hook and then pushed other end with red plastic piece through to catch the notch. (You can adjust placement for door tension considering there are at least three notches.) Space was tight so I held onto free end of spring with needle nose pliers and pushed it through with my fingers to the notch. I almost called a repairman to do this for me. That would have been an expensive way out of an extremely easy repair. ANYONE can do this as long as they have finger dexterity. I am thrilled to have a perfectly functioning dishwasher door again. The parts were perfect and much cheaper than buying from Sears or elsewhere.

The repair was very simple and covered completely in the instructions that came with the springs. However, I am writing this not so much to describe the repair but to give unsolicited praise to PartSelect. I pretty much only purchase online, so I spend a lot of time on web sites. This was probably the best shopping experience I have ever had (Google and Google Tool Bar were also involved). I found the site using Google, but then found my part in about one minute with the great diagrams. Checkout was incredibly easy and my parts arrived two days later and the door was fixed 30 minutes after that. I'm a customer for life!

I bought a refrigeator that was stored in a public storage area. When I initally connected the water source to the refrig, there was a big wter leak under the refrig. The repair was quite easy once you identify the part that is broken. Day 1 (Investigate the leak): I pulled out the refrig. I removed the screws (7) holding the bottom cardboard panel. Once done, I removed the screws (2) holding the inlet value in place. I pulled out the value about inches and inspected what was wrong. (There was a hairline crack in the body of the value caused by the water freezing when it was stored outdoors). I wrote down all the numbers off of the valve and then I ordered my parts online from PartsSelect (plug for company!!!). I also ordered a water filter, since it had cracked as well. I put everything back together in reverse order, and left the water turned off. Day 2 (3 days after ordering parts). Took apart the refrig again, just like Day 1. I read the instructions that came with the Water Inlet Valve and they were "exact". Disconnected the electrical connectors. I had the push-in fitting type of hose connector, so I simply pushed in (not pull!!!) the collet (colored collar around the opening) inward towards the valve and pulled the tubing (4) away from the valve. VOILA!!! Real easy! I compared the old valve and the new valve...yup, correct part! Now the installation was a breeze! I simply reversed the order. Pushed in all the hoses into the correct fittings, reconnected the electrical connectors, and reinstalled the valve to the refrig, and attached the water filter in the front of the refrig. I turned on the water source and checked for leaks. No surprises here!!! The connections held and there were no leaks! I reinstalled the cardboard backing and I pushed back the refrig in place.

Moral of my story: if you are going to store your refrigerator outdoors, drain all the water from the water and ice maker system!!!

removed the bottom panel 4 screws,then replaced the new springs. I bought two and left the other one inside the panel saved $80.00 servive call.

removed the 2 screws that hold in the washer, pulled it out, with the door shut, removed and replaced the remaining spring , then went to the other side and did the one that broke off. then I reinstalled the unit. simple !

Pulled out the DW and removed old spring parts. Used screw driver and pliers to respring

Removed the two screws securing the dishwasher to the underside of countertop.
Pulled the washer out until the spring mechanism was visible. Vacuumed the area - it was filthy. Assembled the spring and adjusting hook. Took me 4 tries to get the spring into the proper tension slot. Having the other side intact helped in understanding how it worked. Used long nosed pliers to bring spring onto the door retaing plate slot after trying unsuccessfully with regular pliers.

It took longer to take the 2 screws out than it did to put spring on.
