Ice maker bump and grind
The ice bucket supports had split, and broken away from the refrigerator wall causing the ice dispenser bucket to sag, and bump and grind. The b&g wore away the ice screw support at the rear of the bucket, causing intermittent ice dispensing. The ice bucket was removed to allow access to the ice bucket supports. The supports were attached to the refrigerator by two screws. One along the front side, the other at the rear attached to a protruding tang. One of these broken off, the other was stuck, and had to be forced off its mount. The rear mount was expanded by drilling a slightly larger hole to accommodate a nut and bolt assembly. The new support units were re-attached to the refrigerator front and back using screws and the nut and bolt in the appropriate places. The ice bucket installation was a tad more difficult. The hardware from the original bucket was removed and installed on the replacement bucket. This proved to be a bit tricky remembering the exact location of the parts, and coordinating the screw mechanism with the driver mechanism. The ice fill starter switch is a bit unusual in that it has to go into a slot that is not visible when inserting the ice dispenser bucket into the ice maker compartment. You have to finagle the bucket into place and get all the parts in the correct slots. It was a piece of cake for the average husband.

The selector switchhas been broken for years but was still usable .
When the ice bucket self destructed I had to repair . I had know problems. The realistic time frame was do to cleaning ten years of dirt and calciumdepostes off. I used about a quart of CLR the wires on the switch are very short used needle nose pliers to put the connector back together. Shouldn't be a problem for any one to repair.

Hole in bottom of ice bucket
Transferred ice supply to another freezer. Removed ice maker unit from freezer and studied assembly. Removed the 5 screws holding the bucket in place while keeping track of which screw went where. The only positional component to remember was the motor control pivot retainer. Wiggled and fiddled to remove the old bucket. Wiggled and fiddled to put the new bucket in place. Replaced the 5 screws, dumped the reserved ice back into the bucket, and returned the ice maker unit to the freezer.
