Burner Control switch needed replacing...
The stove is a replacement in a rental. When moving this stove in place, my hand slipped and I hit the control knob for the front burner. It broke the mounting shaft for control itself and therefor the control would just spin when you turned the knob. I ordered a new part that was easy to find and arrived in about 3 days...pretty quick. I shut off power to the stove at the breaker and verified the power was off. Pulled the stove out. Removed the top back panel by removing 6 screws (they were the square nut drive type instead of Phillips or slotted). The controller had a single connector attached that was easily removed. I attached the cable to the new controller, place the shaft through the hole in the front plate, used the old nut and washer (the new controller did not come with a nut and washer...lucky I found the old ones) to tighten in place. I then remounted the back panel and replaced the 6 screws, moved the stove back into place and turned the breaker back on. Total time was about 7 minutes. Oh, I had to reset the time on the stove. That was it.

My right front duel burner the small burner will not shut off even when the knob is in the off position nor will it temperature control on its own ? Would the burner be bad or is it the switch #316239601 and is there a way of testing that switch ? With a tester.
For model number PLEF398CCC
Hello Brudo, thank you for your question. The most likely issue is the switch itself, as that is the part that regulates the temperature, and sends the signal to the burner to either turn up, or down. We would recommend testing the switch and replacing if necessary. Here is a link that will provide instructions on testing. https://www.partselect.com/Range-Stove-Oven+Infinite-Switch-Testing+repair.htm. I hope this helps!

Hello Stephen, Thank you for your inquiry. We would recommend checking the burner element and the switch. You can check the parts with a multimeter. Also check the wiring between the element and the switch for any visible damage and wear. Good luck with your repair.

the burner will not turn off the front right dual element I think its the sw.
For model number plef398ccb
Hi Ronald,
Thank you for your question. If the burner will not turn off, you may have either a shorted element or the switch that controls it is malfunctioning. You will need to test the parts with a multimeter for continuity to see which one is causing the issue. To test for a shorted element, touch each of the terminals one at a time with one probe while holding the other probe to the outside surface of the element. If either terminal shows continuity, it is defective. To test the entire element for continuity, place each of the probes on the terminals, one on each. The exact reading you should receive varies between models, refer to your owner’s manual to determine what yours should be, but if any element has a reading outside of 19 to 115 ohms, it is defective. If you do not receive the correct readings from the tests above or find damage on your element, you will need a replacement surface burner element. To test the switch, set your multimeter to the Rx1 setting. Then test for continuity by touching the L1 and H1 terminals with the probes. Once you have completed that test, touch the probes to the L2 & H2 terminals. If your test results indicate that there is no continuity between one or both sets of terminals, you need a replacement infinite switch. We hope this helps! If you have any questions, please let us know.
