Drain Pump 154580301

Repair was easy I removed the old drain pump by removing 1 clips with pliar & 1 band with a screw driver and replace the drain pump with the new one, I replace clip and the band. replace drain hose tighten down the band. I had to adjust the drain pump because it seem to be a little loud then the one I had to replace , now it works !

Putting the new pump in place to test it only took about five minutes. The lower, front, kick-plate panel was already off because I had removed it to figure out what was so loud. The steps after that were:

- Unplugged it and the disposal under the sink (just in case)
- Pulled the wires out of the bottom front of the drain pump
- With a Philips screw driver I loosened the front hose clamp and pulled off the hose
- With the pliers I pinched the back hose clamp and pulled off the hose
- Twisted the pump off of its soft plastic bracket

To put the new one on I reversed the process.

Once it was in place and before I put the panel back on, I plugged in the dishwasher and started a cycle.


The pump was quiet but the person who installed the dishwasher in the first place had the drain hose resting on a spring. When the pump ran it resonated through the spring making a pretty loud noise.

So I unplugged it again, disconnected the hose, fed it under the spring along the floor and then reconnected it. When I plugged it back in and tested it, things were much quieter.

With everything in place I put the panel back on and was finished.

Note: I have worked on dishwashers before and most of the time they have insulation behind the kick-plate panel to quiet them, but this one didn’t. I will probably add that some time later.

First turn the power off! If you have water in the tub, use something like a wet/dry shop vac to drain as much water out as possible. Removing the strainers will help get more out. To remove the smaller horseshoe shaped strainer, pull up and towards the handle. The sprayer is then removed by rotating the base of it slightly. Then you can remove the large strainer. The more water you get out the better! Then remove the kick panel. You will see the drain pump right in front of you with a white and a purple wire. Disconnect the wires by pulling their tabs towards you, and move them out of the way. With a screwdriver, loosen the worm clamp on top of the pump that connects the drain line to the pump. Have a towel handy, even if you got all of the water out, there will still be some in the line. Then take a pair of pliars (long nose may work best, or small channel locks) and compress the clamp on the black hose behind the pump, moving the clamp towards the center of the hose. The pump should now move a little. Pulling the pump towards you, wiggle slightly to try to remove the pump from its support, preferably without breaking the tabs, but keeping them intact is not critical if you are replacing the pump. More water may come out at this point, so be prepaired. Put the new pump in by reversing the process, making sure you do not break the support tabs. Slide the compression clamp into place. Reconnect and tighten the drain line, reconnect the white and purple wires. Dry your work area carefully so you can spot any leaks. Apply power, and run a rinse cycle, watching for leaks. If everything looks ok, kill the power again and reattach the kick plate. Turn power back on one last time, and enjoy your dishwasher again!

the pump was making some loud noise so i removed the bottom cover and the drain pump is right in the front the motor was hot the washer had water on the bottom so i started the washer hit the pump with a screw driver handle to get it started drained the water and used pliers to in still. not bad at all.

The unit would not pump the gray water out so I immediately assumed it was a bad pump. Ordered the part and had it the next day. After taking things apart I realized it was a clogged discharge hose and the original pump was still good. Since I had the new pump and everything was already disassembled I decided it would be a good insurance policy to replace the pump anyways. Easy to install. I didn't even have to pull the unit out. Just did it from underneath.

I pulled the dishwasher from the cabinet and tilted the unit back so I would have better access to the drain pump. I then removed the hose clamp from the drain hose attached to the pump and removed the hose to let drain into a container. After disconnecting a white and purple wire from the pump and removing the rubber coupling I was able to remove the pump from the housing. Installed the new pump and started the wash cycle and the pump started it's drain cycle which was a relief. Easy fix and great parts!

the remove was very easy just with pliers and a screw drive I was able to remove the pump. Make sure the electric is off!

The drain pump was making a high pitched buzzing noise which told us that its days were numbered. When I ordered the pump I found out that the dishwasher was really made by Electrolux for Whirlpool. Taking the pump off was a simple matter of removing two hose clamps and prying the pump off the frame. The hard part was realizing that it just pulled off without damaging anything. The new pump easily slipped right in and the screw in hose clamp was easily installed. However, the hose clamp that required pinching with the pliers was not that easy. I had to use a screwdriver to push it all the way on while holding the clamp open with the pliers. All in all pretty easy.

Remove kick plate. Pump is right up front. Disconnect the two wire from the pump. MAKE sure u have removed all water from dishwasher! There will be a little left in the pump but nothing to worry about. Next on the top of the pump there is a hose clamp. Loosen it and remove the hose. Now use pliers to slide the hose clamp off the lower hose that hooks to the dishwaher. Use a flat head screw driver to push the tabs on the white clip over and pull off the pump. Now just do this in the reverse order. Approx time: 10 minutes

remove cover in lower front, drain pump located in front, remove two wires from pump motor. it's a little tight but you just loosen the 3 clamps, remove drain hose and pull hose from bottom of dishwasher unit, unclip drain pump, snap new one in place while sliding small hose on to the dishwasher. reclamp and hook the drainhose back up and tighten clamp.
