This is an original Makita gear cover, also sometimes referred to as a transmission cover. The gear cover is part of the chain tensioner mechanism in a chainsaw. Although the chain tensioner can be sold as a complete set, this transmission cover is sold individually. You will need to remove the sprocket guard and cover to access this part.
