Adjuster rack broke. It's plastic and some bits came off.
Only the left rack broke, but I replaced both. Three screws on each rack...took about 10 minutes to replace both adjusters.
Top rack dropped low on right side, didn't stay in once pushed in.
Carefully took apart the old one, paying attention to how the new one would be placed. I only had to order the outside part, nothing else was broken. Cleaned the inside, and then carefully attached the two together as I held it onto the rack. (Took the rack out to work on the countertop, in order to slide the rack out, need to open the ends of the gliders) Then once the parts fit well together on the rack, I screwed the screws in firmly.

What would cause plastic on adjuster to break plastic just breaks into pieces replaced both side 6 or 7 times now.

Hello Mark, thank you for your question. The poor design and quality of material is a real issue with these parts. Also the type of water in your home affects those parts. Also if you overload the dishrack, that can cause stress on the parts. I hope this helps.

Is there a compatible part to the poorly designed upper rack adjuster (#5 and #5a)? I'd be happy with a static part since we never raise or lower the rack. Our dishwasher is 4 years old and I've replaced these parts six (6) times already.
