Inside plastic of stove knob had broken

Another burner knob bit the dust
Took it out of the package & placed it on the missing (formerly broken) burner knob spot. Then I started preparing dinner! It was so great to have all my burners again! Thank You.

Is the shaft that slides over the D shaft on the stove made of plastic? That is the issue with the OEM knobs. The plastic cracks from heat and age.
