Motor speed was erratic and no high speed
Removed the rear cover to inspect the speed board. Replaced motor brushes and noticed the motor body nuts were loose and 1 was completely off. Cleaned up speed board and replaced the motor body nuts, tightened with nutdriver, adjusted speedboard governor screws and with new motor brushes worked like a charm. The very rough sounding motor noise was gone and the mixer has not operated so quietly ever.
Followed the excellent directions included in the parts shipment. The old coupling popped right off as per the instructions. I inserted a small screwdriver through the bottom of the blender to hold the shaft. I then unscrewed the old coupling off the shaft and screwed the new one on. It was good to know the threads were "lefthanded" threads.
Really no help from Kitchen Aid sources; but phone call to PartSelect solved the problem. Kitchen Aid repair line didn't even know the part #! Thanks to Part/Select, Christmas cookies are being made.

I see that your reply to another question says that the wire whisk beater for this model (KitchenAid artisan) is stainless plated and cannot go in the dishwasher without damaging the finish. What is length of whip. Mine is 6" in height including hub. I have KitchenAid ultra power tilt head mixer with 4.5 qt bowl. The label says it is model rrk90 which we cannot match up to anything and serial is wm4941563. I just received whip which i ordered from you and it is too long so will need to return. Help!
