oven door handle
the part I ordered was delivered very quickly, thank you. It is exactly the same handle as the old one with the exception that the insert for the screws is only plastic and not a brass insert like the old one. I hope this will be sufficient to last for a long time like the original one did. I have my reservations about that though.

The handle on the upper oven broke off at both attachment points.
The repair process is not logical. It appears as if it were engineered for the average person to not be able to fix it. The advice from previous posters was invaluable. Remove the door from the hinges. Then remove all the screws from the four outer panels. The glass window will fall out, be careful. It's OK, though, it probably needs cleaned like ours did. The new handle is now easily replaced. However, the replacement handle has cheap, plastic attachment points, vice the original's metal ones (which broke after a couple years.) As I was screwing in one of the new screws, I felt it already stripping...at least I now know how to replace the handle when it breaks again.
Partselect.com beat Maytag on the overall price. Maytag sold the handle cheaper but the screws were three time the cost and shipping was twice the cost. I bought the standard shipping (2-3 days) , but the part came the next day! Yea Partselect!!
This is what I learned: Partselect is great...Maytag makes junk.
I looked it over and decided what i needed to have for parts .I ordered the new door handle from part select.com and within a reasonable time i received the part in the mail ...I lifted the door out of its place took the screws out put the handle in and buttoned it up ...The replacement part was as good as a new one would be...It took a matter of less than 30 minutes total... thanks for your service...

Oven handle broken loose at one end.
Removed 3 Phillips head screws at top of oven door. Tipped this top casing back just enough to remove glass door panel. Removed door mounting brackets from door (phillips). Removed end of handle from attached end of frame piece. New handle screw stubs changed from original to need self tapping screws (with washers), so had to find appropriate screws on my own (screws sent to me for new handle were straight machine screws as needed with original, broken handle). Found self tapping screws and washers, screwed new handle to brackets, screwed brackets to door panel, loosely screwed 3 top frame screws, tipped top frame back enough to reinstall glass door front, screwed down 3 top frame screws and it was done.
