Defrost Thermostat WP67004757

Removed inside panel in freezer compartment. Used blow dryer to melt collected ice on evaporator coil. Removed clips on bottom of defrost heater. Replaced with new defrost heater, re-attaching the clips. Replaced defrost Thermostat with new one. Re-attached inside panel. Now unit works just fine. Really easy job. Defrosting the collected ice took the longest to do.

I defrosted the ice from the freezer coils with a blow dryer and then removed the back panel from the freezer and I change the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat, I believe that being I am a woman and not really knowing what I was doing, (only what I read on PartSelect) that it took me as long as it did...Once I realize what I had to do, it was over in a jiffy....So far the Refrig and Freezer seem to be working fine..

Remove bottom panel in freezer side to get access to the coil.Remove old heater element and defrost thermostat.Installed new hearter and thermostat.Screw back bottom panel re-start frige.

Cut wires and removed old thermosat. Spliced new thermostat wires into exsiting wire. Put it all back together. Works great now. Thanks for all the help. Your site is great. Only problem we had was getting the part from FED EX. Took over 2 weeks had to go pick up the part ourselfs.

Empty freezer to find defrost thermostat, turned off refrigerator, waited for ice to melt. Unpluged unit. Clipped lead wires to thermostat. Trimmed excsess wire on new defrost thermostat, installed butt connector(with heat shrink) to thermostat and then to leads in refrigerator. Heated connector until heat shrink, shrunk down around wires. Let it run for a few days to see if everything was working...and then button it back up.

Problem led to 3 possible problem parts, defrost thermostat, defrost heater or defrost control board. Defrost heater ohmed out to 31 ohms, so seemed good. Defrost thermostat was open when warm but was open after running refrigerator to get freezer side cold enough for thermostat to close, it did not I thought. So I ordered thermostat. Once part came in, I cut up a couple inches on orange and brown wires, stripped off enough to work with. I soldered new one in and heat shrunk the wires. I turned on and it seem to work and all night. Working fine right now.
