Ice maker not working
The initial problem was that the ice maker was not working. I had the unit repaired at a local store and they assured me that it worked fine in their workshop. I believed that the valve was the next logical part to replace. The installation was very easy. I unplug the refrigerator and turned off the water. Removed two, easily reached, screws and pulled the unit out. Disconnected the wire harness (you may want to mark the top of the wire harness before removing for immedite alignment on reassembly) and tubing. Notice a spot in the tubing that had been kinked, so cut that out. Reassemble and turned everything back on. Installation went perfectly. Unfortunately, I still do not have ice and will be doing some additional trouble shooting to determine the next course of action. I may be in touch.

left refrigerator out in freezing weather
Went on line to find replacement valve.
Received the new part and compared to broken part. Both the same.
CAREFULLY removed the broken valve. Paying attention to how it came off.
CAREFULLY put it on the same way it came off.
This is a plug and play part. Just had to reconnect the water line.
Saved at least 75 dollars.

Ice Maker was not working
Based on other feedback, it sounded like a bad valve. I ordered it from Part Select and received it the next day. I am in NO WAY handy, but it took about 5 min to change using the instructions. Not bad considering I spent $33 on the part and I was quoted $280 by the authorized repair center.

No ice forming in ice maker
I looked at a video on YouTube that described how to check if the water inlet valve was working. By using an ohm meter, it indicated the water valve was bad. I could hear the ice maker trying to make ice. I ordered the part; it was shipped that day. The email confirmation also had a video on how to change. I watched and changed it out quickly. The valve is easy to take out by disconnecting the water line and quick disconnect electrical line. (Turn off water and unplug unit). I took pictures of my steps so I could remember the valve orientation. The new valve went in the same way in just 2 minutes. I needed a 1/4 inch nut driver.
We had a full ice tray in 24 hours.
Our freezer door handle popped off and I learned how to put it back by watching a YouTube video.
I am not handy at this type of repair but this was a great experience. Thank you!!

Bad Water Inlet Valve
Icemaker quit working, so replaced ice maker...was still not working, so realized it was the water inlet valve. Pulled fridge away from the wall, unplugged electrical, removed one screw from old water inlet valve, removed it, unplugged electrical connector, cut one inch of tubing going into inlet of new valve (per instructions). Put back in place, plugged in, and now making ice again. VERY EASY!

Leaking water control valve for ice maker
There are plenty of videos showing how to change out this part. What they don’t tell you is that when you are pushing in the supply line into the water control valve it will feel like it’s seated, but it’s not. You have to push pretty hard and it will go in another quarter inch. Now it’s seated. If you don’t see it fully, it will leak out of that hose.

no ice
put in inlet valve, still no ice. Replaced the ice maker-ice.
Used the new inlet valve as the refrerator is 5 years old, but I had to cut off the spring of the refrigerator tube.
