Ice Build-up in freezer
We have a bottom freezer refridgerator that kept having ice build-up in the freezer. We thought it was being caused by people (kids) not fully closing the freezer door. The ice build-up was really thick especially behind the rear cover. i defrosted the freezer about 3 times and it kept happening. We replace the timer (PS2065577) and have not had a problem since. The timer is actually in the refridgerator compartment , but controls the defrost cycle in the freezer.

Freezer cold, refrigerator warm
For the timer, I removed the upper light panel in the refrigerator with a screwdriver and the defrost timer is just plugged in. Easy fix, however most websites were saying it was located down by the kickplate. The thermostat was I think was te real culprit of my problem. I removed the back plate of the freezer after removing the pullout drawers. It just took four screws. The vent/grill just pops out if squeeze it to one side and slide out the other. Then swivel out door. Note that I do not have the ice maker installed in mine so yours may have a another step. I unplugged the refrigerator at this point and grabbed my blow dryer. I melted all the ice that had formed on condenser. The thermostat is located to the right of the fan. Unclip old thermostat and snip wires with enough slack to attach new one. Attach with wire nuts, reclip and start moving in reverse back to the beginning. 7days and no problems!
The part was an exact match to the old one and the instructions from your website were all I needed to complete this repair. My wife thinks I am somewhat of an appliance genius now. Could not have done it without you...thanks

timer gave out, so it caused the fridge to freeze
took out manual to locate area's that needed repair, it was quick and simple .. would like to thank you for your assistance with ordering the part and the follow up's .. I will definately use you again.
my freezer kept icing up and the light switch was broken
I carefully took the clear plastic piece out of the top of the refrigerator. I removed two screws, unsnapped the white plastic cover and unplugged the old defrost timer and plugged in the new one. I then replaced everything in reverse order.
Follow your parts diagram, I removed the nut screw from the light in the refrigerator. Removed the light cover. Removed the temperture control knob. Remove the damper control cover. Slid the light assembly forward. Pulled out old defrost timer, replaced with new one. reversed assembly order.

Frost inside freezer and not cooling refgr.
I replaced the timer defroster 2/13 and until today,2/18 the refgr was cooling properly. now there is frost in the freezer and the refgr is not cooling. I will defrost it manually. If anyone has had this problem I would appreciate your help. My email is jlmassey@cebridge.net. Thank you.

Evaporator coil in freezer compartment freezing up.
Removed control knobs cover in refrigerator side of unit using phillips screw driver, unplugged & removed old timer and installed new one in reverse order. Installation was easy and since the article suggested this was is the fix 2/3 of the time, thought I had it made......not! Worked fine for about a week when it did it again! T-Stat is the problem 1/3 of the time and I just ordered that, hope I'm now at a 100 % fix?!

Water leaking and freezing on Freezer Floor, bottom freezer
We followed the instructions in the video! Excellent step by step. The hardest part is prying the console off, located in the ceiling of the refrigerator. The other tricky thing is to be sure the belt that operates the temperature control is lined up properly when putting everything back in place. There is a larger notch that has to line up with that larger opening on the belt. Definitely keep the video available as you install the part and remove the sections in the same order as the video. Couldn't be easier!

Just replaced the defrost timer and turned on electricity and refrigerator doesn't come on. Lights work., but compressor won't come on. What should i do?
Hi Walt,
Thank you for your inquiry. I would suggest testing both the run capacitor and the start relay on your appliance. Both of those parts are directly attached to your compressor. Disconnect power to your appliance and the remove those parts. Test them both with a multi-meter to see if they are still functioning. If they are both still working, you may have to consider contacting a certified technician to come in and have a look at your appliance. Good luck with your repair.

My freezer no longer defrosts. How can i tell if i need to replace the thermostat or the timer?/

Hello and thank you for writing.
You would have to test both parts to establish which one is defective.

To test the thermostat PS 2003451 you do need a multimeter and do the following:
Set the function selector switch on the digital multimeter to its R x 1 scale. Plug the red test lead into the red jack, marked "VmA" -- volts milliamperes. Plug the black test lead into the blackjack marked "COM." Attach the test probes to the terminals on the thermostat.
The LCD on the meter will display “0.000” if the cold thermostat is in the closed position. The defrost thermostat should be in the closed position when cold. Check to be sure the thermostat is opening at the correct temperature by placing it in water and slowly heating the water. Defrost thermostats are designed to open between 40 degrees and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The preset temperature is stamped on the thermostat. When the thermostat opens, the meter's LCD will display an “O.L.,” indicating no continuity through the bi-metallic switch contacts inside the defrost thermostat. If the thermostat does not display an “0.000” when cold or an “O.L.” when hot, the thermostat is bad and needs to be replaced. We hope this helps.
