Dryer will not start
I replaced the timer asembly, still did not start. I REPLACED THE HEATER SENSORS, TWO OF THEM,THAT DID THE JOB.I suggest to check both heater sensors first, one I missed at the beginning is on the right side of the heating coil, kind of hidden.I believe that one was the problem. I could have saved myself some money if I had found and checked that sensor first.
I removed the cover plate than pulled off the knob to gain access to the two screws holding the timer assy. in..once they were removed i removed the wires one by one and installed them on the new timer.then reinstalled it put the cover on and was done

Dryer would turn off before the selected cycle would run completely.
Step 1. UNPLUG DRYER Step 2. Remove the selector knob(timer). It just slides off by pulling it toward you. Step 3. Remove the back cover of the Control Panel. Three phillips screws along the top and three 1/4" hex head screws along the back. After removing the fasteners lift up on the panel and it can be removed. Step 4. Remove the two 1/4 hex head screws that hold the timer to the control panel. (They are on the front of the control panel under the selector knob that was removed in step 2.) Step 4. Switch over the wires one at a time from the old timer to the new timer. Don't forget to switch over the resistor. **Note**Also pay attention to original position on the timer, it can be installed 180deg's out(upside down) then the knob will not be indexed poperly with the control panel. Reverse the steps to reassemble!

Busted the timer shaft off the timer
I pulled the control cover off, unscrewed the old timer, switched wire for wire, screwed new back on, and dried.
The dryer would no longer cut off automatically after the clothes were dry
I removed the 3 screws from the front knob panel. The panel popped right off, I then removed the knob and unsrewed the two screws for the timer. You should move one wire at a time from the old timer to the new. Unfortunately, when I got finished, I had an extra white wire. That led me to virtual repairman website to get assistance with matching up the wires correctly. The virtual repairman was kind enough to provide me with a copy of the schematics for this timer. Once I received that information, I was able to get the wires lined up correctly and my dryer is like new.

Dryer wouldn't advance
Repair went fairly smoothly, except the wiring connection on the purchased timer was incorrect. Luckily I had the old part to match the new timer.
A. Unplug dryer
1. Removed timer adjust knob by pulling straight out. 2. Remove two screws holding the switch to the front panel. 3. Remove two screws on top of the dryer control panel. 4. Grip the control panel on left and right sides. 5. Pull the panel forward. 6. Optional: take pictures of timer and wiring. 7. Survey the electrical connections from the old timer to the machine. 8. Remove one electrical slip connector from the old timer, and place it on the corresponding lug on the replacement timer. 9. Proceed, one at a time, until all connectors are moved to the new timer.

Dryer runs, clothes dried the timer selection was in the same place as started over hr later and never shutoff. Is it possible that along with the selection timer that the heating element was burned out due to the over running of the dryer?

Hi Chris, Thank you for the question. Most cases you can see visible damage to the element if it burns out. You can also test the element and the thermostats and fuses to see if they are defective and need to be replaced. Hope this helps!

Hi! My dryer won't start, but is exhibiting a humming noise from the motor when i try and turn it on. If i press the selector knob long enough, the machine shuts off, and i hear a click from the motor area. .... in the hope for a cheap solution ($30), i replaced the thermostat and hi-temp thing (kit manuf #la-1053), but i'm experiencing the same problem. we've previously had a problem with the door switch (manuf #wp53-0148); for the last few months, we've had to press hard on the area of the door over the switch to get it to start; once i took the dryer apart, i removed the switch and cleaned it with contact cleaner, nudged the button, and tested its continuity with a multimeter and it seemed ok (1/0). so it looks like the problem is either the timing assembly (wp53-1810, which is about $130) or the drive motor itself (w10410996). one more thing: for the last couple years, the dryer won't start if it's gone through a few loads already - giving the same symptom of buzzing when trying to start, and stopping with a "click" if we keep trying too long. (this is why i wanted to try replacing the thermostat and overtemp sensor). which should we try replacing next? the timing assembly, or the driver motor? thanks.

Dryer not getting hot heating elements and all other thermostats replaced. Still not hot. Is replacing timer assembly an option to correct this problem

Thank you for your question. It could be your Timer. If for some reason it is not recognizing that the appliance has started its cycle. I could also suggest checking your selector switch. I have linked that part down below for you so that you can see which one I mean. If both of those parts are fine you could also take a look at your door switch. I hope that helps. My dryer would not come on at any setting. I replaced the thermostat/fuse and the dryer motor and heating element came on but the motor would not shut off at end of cycle. The heater goes off but not the motor. The buzzer does signal at the appropriate time. I just ordered and replaced the timer assembly but the motor still stays on at the end of the cycle. Thank you for any suggestions you can offer.

My dryer stopped working (completely dead, no inside light no nothing). I replaced the thermal fuse at the heating element, plugged in the dry, inside light now works. When i turned the timer knob the 30 amp circuit breaker in my fuse box trips. This happens even before i press the knob to start the dryer. None of the terminals on the timer show signs of a short. Is this a bad timer or something else?
