Timer stuck in on position during drying cycle.
I removed the front control cover, disconnected the timer wires which were color coded, and replaced the new timer. Checked for system operation and everything worked fine.

Dryer Wouldn't Run
The internet is a wonderful thing. A couple of quick searches told me how to find the model number of our Whirlpool dryer and I found some DIY videos. A new dryer similar to ours is around a thousand dollars today. I have less than two hundred in the repair. I entered the model number in the PartSelect search tool and found my timer switch. It shipped that day and I had it a few days later. It took about a half hour to do the deed and the dryer is working fine now. I'm lucky that there is plenty of room to work on ours so no horror story about moving it. Thanks to PartSelect, I saved about eight hundred dollars and my wife is happy. You married guys all know that if the woman ain't happy, then nobody is happy. Thank you PartSelect!
Here's how I did it: 1) Move the dryer out so I could get to the back of it. 2) Unplug it. 3) Took six screws out to remove the cover plate. 4) Took two screws out to remove the timer switch and pulled the knob off the front of the switch. 5) Unplugged the wires on the switch one at a time and plugged them on the new switch as I went. It's all color coded but... 6) Two screws back in to hold the switch and put the knob back on the front. 7) Six screws back in to attach the cover plate. 8) Plugged the dryer in. 9) Moved the dryer back where it belonged. 10) Turned the dryer on and grinned!

Our dryer's timer quit advancing last week and later the dryer would not heat up. With the dryer unplugged i tested the connections of the two black wires that come out of the timer motor and there was no continuity. I want to make sure that tested the timer correctly before i purchases a new timer. Also is it possible to buy just the timer motor?
For model number LTG6234DQ0
Hi Paul,
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately you cannot get just the timer motor. I imagine that you tested your part just fine, it is a fairly easy test. If your timer is showing no continuity then that is more than likely what your issue is. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

Is the timer supposed to pull in and out like on a washer? Or is it just supposed to turn? My problem i am having is the timer stays where it is set during the cycle. When you turn the timer, it automatically starts without pushing the start button. We set it for 40 minutes and after an hour it was still running and still on 40 minutes. Assuming it is a bad timer, but would that cause it to automatically start also?
For model number LER4634BQ1
Hello Marty, Thank you for your inquiry. The timer switch is supposed to turn to advance during a cycle. We would recommend the checking the following parts which can also cause your issue: Internal-Bias Thermostat, the thermal fuse, the thermal cut off kit, the lid switch and the heating element as well as the timer. You can test the parts with a multimeter. If you are unfamiliar with how a multimeter functions, there are YouTube videos available to assist you. Hope this helps!

Is this timer works on Inglis dryer too?
For model number LE7700XWN0
Hi Afzal, Thank you for your question. I have listed the timer for your appliance down below. Unfortunately that part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and the manufacturer has not provided an authorized substitute. The only other thing that I could think of would be to contact your manufacturer and see if they have another part from a different model that will work with yours. If they do have another part that will work, get the part number so that you can search it on our website to see the cost of the part. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
The timer on my dryer stopped working. If i set it to run for 30 mins and i come back in 45 mins the timer still shows 30 mins. Is this always the timer itself? Can something else cause this problem? Everything else seems to work fine. The dryer just keeps running and doesn't time out no matter where it is set. Of its possible out could be another issue where can i find diagnostic info? Thanks!!

Hi Jeff,
Thank you for your question. If the dryer is not shutting off, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the door switch, the timer, and the thermostats. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Dryer rotates no heat. Replaced ignitor, coils, Flame sensor, thermal fuse, radiant sensor and thermostat. Ignitor now lights for 10 15 seconds before shutting off. Still no heat. Before i replace the most expensive part the gas valve does the timer have anything to do with the firing of the gas burner and should i replace that before trying to replace the gas valve? Thanks.
For model number Lgr4634EQ0
Hi Bill. Thank you for your question. You may also want to test your igniter. It could be lighting but it may not be getting hot enough to actually spark the flame. The timer can also effect your heat coming on so you should probably take a look at that part as well. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.
