Original timer would not advance through cycles.
The repair was easy to do. I removed the back panel from the control console of my Kenmore washer. Taking out the old timer was just a matter of removing two screws and the control knob from the front of the panel. Then I unplugged a connector block and disconnected one other wire by pulling it out of a wire nut which it was designed to do. When I proceeded to install the new timer, I discovered that the two screws from the front of the panel were slightly larger than the threaded holes in the new timer. I went to Home Depot and bought a size 10/32 tapping drill bit which I used to enlarge the threaded screw holes in the new timer. It was very simple to do. This added more time to the installation. Had I not encountered this problem, I could have installed the new timer in less than an hour, but at the same time, I learned how to solve the problem. The new timer works fine.
