Replaced ignitor - natural gas oven
Oven was lighting slowly and finally just stopped lighting. I ordered and replaced old ignitor with a new one. The actual repair is pretty easy. However, this is the second one I purchased, the first one was broken by me while inserting it into bracket. The active part of the ignitor (the part that heats up) is extremely fragile, more fragile than fluorescent bulb glass. Do not allow it to touch anything while inserting it. Do not drop, even a few inches. The ceramic housing meanwhile is indestructible. The wires won't have connectors on the ends so, you need to get some heat resistant wire nuts and heat resistant tape to safely splice the wires back onto the old wire mount points. Or, If you wish, you can make new connectors and wrap in asbestos sheaths and re-attach to the oven. There does not seem to be a pattern to replacing the wires in the right order. Just as long as they both are securely connected. The bracket is held by 3 screws, easy to remove and replace. You'll need to remove the old ignitor and replace the new one the same way. The elements are not screwed in, they just slide in. The old ignitor was really tight. Take care and spread bracket apart and old ignitor will slide out. The new one goes in the same way.

Stove Work But Your Oven Won't Get Hot ?
If your stove work's but your oven won't get hot it is your ignigter the ignighter in proper working condition sends a signal to the gas valve saying let the gas flow its ok. When the ignighter quits working it won't let the gas flow and your oven will not get hot. It is an easy fix. Just pull out all of interior parts the racks and the bottom heat shield the ignighter the white stone looking part that is screwed to the burner with two wires and it really don't matter what way the wires go back one of the wires connects in the back so you will have to pull the oven out. Now you have to clean under it and your done.

oven would not light
Removed oven door and burner guard. Removed screws holding ignitor bracket and small panel beneath oven door. Disconnected ignitor wires behind panel and pulled out ignitor. Removed old ignitor from bracket and inserted new unit. Fed wires back down thru tubing and screwed in bracket. Connected wires and replaced panel. (Note: old ignitor glowed but would not pass enough current to operate gas valve)
