How do you remove the filter housing?
For model number ET1FHTXMQ04
Hi William, Thank you for the question.First you will need to unplug the appliance and pull it from the wall. Next you will need to remove the grill on bottom front and the Utility Panel on bottom rear. Unscrew the original filter housing from the front of the appliance and pull it out through the back of the appliance. Remove the two water hoses and put them into new filter house. Reverse the steps to reinstall new filter housing.Good luck with the repair!

I own a Whirlpool Fridge/Freezer - GR2FHXTL00. The water filter housing will not allow me to "lock in" the replacement water filter. Also will not allow me to "lock in" the old filter. Filters are Whirlpool, not a generic. Your site does not include this Whirlpool fridge model number. I see you have parts for GR2FHTXT00. Is that the same replacement housing for my model? Thanks

I removed the old water filter and tried to put in a new one. The filter would not seal. Even with pliers, I couldn't get it to seal. I looked into the filter housing and nothing seems to be wrong. The twist connects on the old filter look like they are not seating properly since there are scuff/indented marks on the plastic.

Hello Michael, thank you for your question. First ensure the correct parts are being used. The water filter is PS11722135 and the Housing is PS11739839. A recent testimonial posts this method: I removed the thumb screw attachment on the end of the old filter and placed it on the new filter, (this is done by sliding the unit to one end or the other), then I removed the protective cap from the opposite end of the filter and discarded it, then I slid the new filter into place (lining it up until it goes all the way in and turned it clockwise that same quarter of a turn. We hope this is of some help for your issue.
