Refrigerator would work great then after 2 weeks would stop. I had to unplug and wait a few minutes the plug it in again. Would work 2 weeks or so then the exact same thing. Hopefully the main board will solve the problem
(1) Unplug the refrigerator
(2) Remove 4 nut driven sheet metal screw to remove access plate in the back.
(3) Remove a clear hard plastic cover. Several electronic boards are held in place with plastic tabs.
(4) The main electronic board is easily recognizable.
(5) Unplug all wire plugs from main board. Don't work about what plug goes where when reinstalling. Each plug is different from the others. It's fool proof.
(6) I wore vinyl gloves when I handled and installed the new board. I did not want any static charge to jump to the board.
(7) Re-install all electrical plugs. Note use minimum force to remove and install these plugs as some are small and fragile.
(8) Before re-installing the hard clear plastic cover make sure all electrical plugs are properly installed.
(9) Follow thru to reverse removal procedure for metal plate.
(10). Plug in the refrigerator.
(11) I purchased a delay receptable to prevent both electrical surges and reduction in electrical voltage.

The lights all went out so i think it is the board that is bad. I can’t find the part number for the board that runs the lights.

Hello Don, thank you for your question. If all the lights are gone out on the unit that could be an issue with the power control board Part #: PS11737859 or the main board Part #: PS11737860. I hope this helps!

Sorry, but this might be a bit lengthy. 3 years ago my Jenn Air refrigerator stopped cooling, as the rear interior chilling vents were blocked with ice. I let the fridge defrost (unplugged for 12 hrs) and it worked fine for 6 months. The same issue happened again, defrosted the unit and it worked fine for a year. Now most recently, the ice in the ice bin melted and dripped out through the dispenser. The rest of the refrigerator/freezer was cold with no ice buildup, but I defrosted it anyway. The icemaker made one batch of ice and then started making a groaning/grinding noise. I removed the ice bin entirely and turned the icemaker switch off, a temporary solution. Now there is an entirely new set of issues - the front Control Panel lights up and cycles through a series of humming/whirring noises like it's trying to complete a task (every 3 minutes - timed). Two minutes after the Control Panel cycling, there is a grinding/rattling noise that comes from the lower/freezer end of the unit (also timed, like clockwork). In addition, the interior LED lights will intermittently go out for 15 seconds and then come back on - it's very random. Is it time to replace the refrigerator or have a priest come in to perform an exorcism? Thanks for any input!

Hi Shawn, Thank you for your question. Thank you for your question. If your refrigerator is not working correctly, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the main electronic control board, the dispenser touchpad and electronic control board assembly, the thermistors, the defrost heater, the door switches and the light boards. You will find the information on how to test these parts under Free Repair Help and Instant Repairman on our website. We hope this helps! Good luck with the repair!

Our Whirlpool fridge will occasionally stop working, (e.g. interior lights don't work and the unit doesn't cool, and there is a clicking sound that occurs) We have to shut off power to the unit for about 10-15 minute and the system seems to reset and work fine. What would cause this? I assume it is come form of logic or control board. How do we isolate to the proper board? Thanks

My whirlpool refrigerator goes off, and I never know when this will happen. I've had it worked on several times. Two different boards have been replaced. The last time I had repair business come because it continued to just go off, I was told it had to be the main board. I was told they attempted to order the part and it was not available. The refrigerator was purchased in 2020. Is there no way to replace the main boar? I never know when it will just go off and am concerned I will lose all products.

Hello Betty, thank you for your inquiry. The main control board for the model number you have provided is available on PartSelect and is in stock as part number PS11730991. We would also recommend to check the thermostat. If the refrigerator shuts off and you are able to get it running again by shutting the fridge on and off with the thermostat knob, then the thermostat may be the issue. To check, the next time your refrigerator shuts off, turn the thermostat knob all the way off and then turn it back on. If it starts running, then it is likely the thermostat that needs to be replaced. We hope this solves your problem!

Our frig will make a clunk clunk clunk then shut off. We unplug, wait a few minutes, plug back in and it starts back up. Sometimes will go days before doing it again and then yesterday happened twice in 3 hours. I'm guessing it is a board that needs replaced but don't know which one. Any idea?
