My freezer gets cold but then gets too warm. I think it is a problem with the defrost cycle. I replaced the defrost thermostat and the problem remains. Is there a timer or something that maybe is making it defrost too long? It goes from very cold to 60 degrees very quickly, so I think there is a heat source to it. Is this a possible failed defrost heater? Thanks for your help

Hi Cindy, Thank you for your question. If the freezer is too warm and the defrost cycle is taking too long and you have already replaced the defrost thermostat, there are some other parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the evaporator fan motor, the user control and display, the run capacitor, the door gasket, the defrost heater and the thermistor. You will need to test the parts with a multimeter. Here is a link to one of our videos on YouTube that you may reference on how to use one, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWC44fHn0As. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Upright freezer not cooling at all. Changed starter and capacitor and no luck. Compressor has continuity. Diagnostics indicate code t1 at the end which I believe means I should change out the defrost heater. Is this part going out enough to cause the freezer not to cool at all??? Diagnostics also seems to indicate the thermistor is okay.

Hi Chris, thank you for contacting us. Error code T1 means that your freezer Temperature Sensor is open or shorted. Check your thermistor for continuity with a multimeter, if it is not working, we recommend replacing it with part number PS977306. If you still have issues with your freezer you can always call customer service. We hope this information helps!

Upright door panel hi temp light on. The freezer is cold but not freezing.I removed the cover to replace the defrost thermostat(with the wrong part). The thermostat and the defrost heater connect was covered with ice as well as the drain. Removed the ice and plugged in appliance. The evaporator fan seems to work just fine, the coils began to turn white. Should i proceed with buy the defrost heater assembly?

Hi Kenya, Thank you for your question. If frost is forming on the coils, replacing the defrost heater may resolve this. Also check the door gasket to see if it is sealing correctly. If the freezer section was too warm, air and moisture may have been getting inside. If it is not sealing correctly it will need to be replaced. We hope this helps! Good luck with the repair!
