Why does my ice maker only make crushed ice? It does not make the half moon shaped ice cubes. I have a new ice maker, bought from you, but I don't know if it will solve the problem
Thanks
For model number RF22A4111SG
Hello Steve, thank you for getting in touch. Verify the temperature of the freezer. If it is excessively cold, the ice may break apart during harvesting, leading to crushed ice. Ensure that the water pressure is at a normal level, as low water pressure can hinder the ice maker's capability to create proper cubes. Take out the ice bucket and thoroughly examine it for any clumps of ice or obstructions. If any are discovered, remove them and allow the ice maker to generate fresh ice. Check for any components of the dispenser that may be jammed or misaligned. Certain models feature a small flap or lever that must be manually adjusted to the correct position. Ice can build up and obstruct the mechanism that alternates between crushed and cubed ice. This issue is particularly prevalent if the ice maker is not used regularly or if the freezer temperature is set too low. We hope this helps.

This is the Samsung French door refrigerator style that so many people have complained about freezing up and not cooling the top section. I first changed out the defrost thermostat and this did not correct the problem. I done a quick resistance check on the temp sensor that's mounted on the evaporator itself. The resistance would change when holding an ice cube on the sensor so I just assumed it was ok. PLEASE TAKE NOTE: When performing a resistance check on this sensor, make sure your readings match the Samsung temp/resistance chart in their literature. My sensor was way off calibration and was causing the freeze up. Its working as designed now and DW is happy again. Learn from my mistake.
Interestingly, the few authorized samsung parts suppliers I found declared that this model did not have a lower icemaker, whereas this company actually had the specific part. The heater swap is completely straightforward, and simple, but for one detail. The insulation wrap is easily torn when pulling the tube out and my time was spent finding a suitable material to patch the hole. I would recommend purchasing a new tube with heater element and wrap pre-installed. This issue in no way diminished my satisfaction with the product or the prompt delivery time.
OPENED THE LEFT SIDE REFRIGERATOR DOOR WHERE THE DEFECTIVE MECHANISM WAS. GOT UP ON THE FIRST STEP OF THE STEP STOOL,REMOVED THE PHILLIPS HEAD RETAINING SCREW FROM THE BROKEN PART.PUT THE NEW CLOSING MECHANISM IN PLACE AND RE-INSTALLED THE PHILLIPS HEAD SCREW. STEPPED DOWN FROM THE STEP STOOL AND SHUT THE REFRIGERATOR DOOR.
