Refrigerator side not cooling and has an intermittent popping sound in 10 second intervals.
For model number MSF25D4MDM02
PartSelect logo
Hi Steve, Thank you for your question. The popping noise that you are hearing is usually no cause for concern. This is usually caused by the expansion and contraction caused by the defrost heater cycling on and off. Check that the defrost heater is working. A buildup of ice in your freezer may indicate that this is not working properly. If the popping is happening roughly 4 times a day at regular intervals, it is likely related to the defrost heater. The heater is located at the bottom of the evaporator. The defrost heater heats the evaporator in the defrost mode of operation. The thermostat must be replaced when replacing the defrost heater. You should also verify that the evaporator fan motor is working correctly as this allows the cold air to circulate through the refrigerator section. Where the refrigerator section is not cooling correctly, here is a link from our website that you may reference on what other parts to check, https://www.partselect.com/AdvancedModelSymptoms.aspx?ModelNum=MSF25D4MDM02&mfgModelNum=&fkMfgID=1&ModelMasterID=869885&PID=10. We hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Lights in both frig and freezer sections work intermittently. Some times lights will work fine, other times not at all. When lights do not fully come on, there is a faint dim flicker. Have replaced both switches. Next step?
