Operation is fine but no heat. Just replaced the dryer high limit thermostat and dryer heating element. What else could it be?
For model number MED6200KW1
Hi Brent, thank you for reaching out. As you have already replaced the high limit thermostat and heating element, we would suggest checking the dryer thermistor, part number PS11746740. It monitors and helps regulate the temperature inside the dryer. You may need to replace it to fix the issue. We hope this sorts out your problem!
My dryer will only run a cycle for a few minutes and then shut itself off the control panel won’t turn back on until the dryer cools off or if I unplug it and plug it back in, what would be your first suggestion to replace?
For model number MED6200KW1
Hi Kobe, thank you for your inquiry. A significant buildup of lint in the lint trap, dryer vent, or even the motor can restrict airflow and cause the dryer to overheat. The thermal cut-off, part number PS11769432, is a safety component that blows when the dryer gets too hot. If it blows, it will cut power to the dryer and must be replaced to restore power. Glad to be of help!
To reach the heating element you only need to open the back cover of the dryer (about 8 nut-head screws). Remember to disconnect the power.
To remove the heating element there are two small nut-head screws. Remove the two electric wires. Then you can pull the heating element away.
You can check the heating element with an ohm-meter or visually inspect it to see if the heating element spiral wire is broken.
Don't hurry to dispose the old element. My model includes a small electric safety part. You'll need to transfer it to the new heating element (that comes without it)..
The repair was easy. the most time consuming part was vacuuming the dust from the back of the Dryer, The repair required removing screw from the back panel of the dryer. Then removing screws from the heating element and unplugging the wires. The only moderately diffculy part was swapping the sensor form the old element.
