Can’t clear an se error code. Does this mean I need a new control panel.
For model number ME16K3000AS
PartSelect logo
Hello Dean, Thank you for the question. The SE Error code indicates the Control Board and panel PartSelect Number PS12244466 will need to be replaced. SE indicates there is a short in the board and Keypad. We suggest keeping the appliance unplugged until repaired as it can cause a spark and fire. I looked up the part and it is listed as No Longer Available/Discontinued sorry. There are no part substitutions listed. My suggestion here would be to call the manufacturer and see if they can provide you with a substitution for these part numbers. Hope this helps!

How to replace door handle
For model number ME16K3000AS
PartSelect logo
Hi Clyde, thank you for your question. thank you for your question. Before you begin any repair please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet. You will need to remove the plastic lining around the inside of the door. There are retainer clips holding the liner in place and you will need to use a putty knife to remove it. Depending on the type of microwave you have, you may have to come in from the bottom or from the top to remove the lining. Gently slide the putty knife in between the lining and the frame and go around the frame and gently pry it loose. On the hinge side you will need to come in from the backside to pry the lining off. The door latch is held in place by tension. There is a spring that is usually attached to the latch and to one of the fins on the door to provide it. With the inner lining removed you can now remove the old latch. Install the new latch by slipping it into the slots in the door and attach the spring to the bottom fin to allow for tension in the latch. Reinstall the lining and close the door. Plug the microwave back in. Good luck with your repair.

Top of handle where connected by a screw has broken, how to replace
For model number ME16K3000AS
PartSelect logo
Hello John, Thank you for your question. The door handle for your model is under part PS4239119 and to get to the handle on your microwave door you will need to take the door apart. You can do this using a putty knife to gently pry the back choke cover away from the front of door panel. Once you have those parts separated from each other you will do the same to your choke panel and that should reveal the screws that hold your handle on to the door. We hope this helps.

The microwave works fine but the clock/displayed cooking time has faded only showing parts of the numbers - a 4 might look like a 1 or an 8 look like a 3 ect. But half of the numbers are not lighting up. Is there an easy way to fix this? Its a cosmetic issue but for a unit that's 2 years old, in a new house, it drives me crazy. Any suggestions or if there is a part that would fix this i would greatly help you pointing me in the right direction. Thank you.

Buzzing noise, no heating of food
Removed control panel, discharged HV capacitor. Removed old diode, tested to confirm failure. Replaced part. Other than the removal of the panel swapping the part was almost as easy as replacing a light bulb.

Microwave stopped working - would not heat up
I removed the outer cover and exposed the inner workings. I watched a video on partselect.com to show how to remove and replace the Diode. I followed the instructions and it was very easy to replace.

Unfortunately, the diode was only part of the issue. I ended up replacing the High Voltage capacitor and Magnetron also. Those were a little more complicated but still easy to do.

Now the Microwave works just like new! Cost me less than $100 for all parts.

Appears to work, but food not heated
The high voltage tired was shorted. I replaced it with a new one, but that did not solve the problem.

You can test the high voltage tired with a voltmeter and a 9 V battery. Search Search for it on YouTube.

You can also test the high voltage capacitor, the high-voltage transformer, and the magnetron with a multi meter. Search for the procedures on YouTube.

I tested all these high-voltage components with a low-voltage multi meter, and they all checked out OK (after replacing the diode). However the microwave still did not heat food.

When working on a microwave it is important to unplug it and also discharge the high voltage capacitor. The capacitor has a 10 megaohm resister to automatically discharge itself, but it may have failed – – so discharge it manually.

In the end I ordered a new microwave.
