Craft ice maker stopped working. Suggestions?
For model number LRFVS3006S
Hello Thomas, thank you for contacting us. Go to the control panel inside the refrigerator and check if the "craft ice" indicator is on. If the indicator light is off, turn this back on by pressing the "craft ice" button. When the craft ice maker is turned on, it will automatically be set to produce 1 batch of 3 craft ice every 24 hours. You can also set to produce 6 ice spheres a day. To do this, just press the "craft ice" button one more time to produce 6 ice spheres a day. To allow the setting that you want, leave the craft ice maker setting for 5 seconds to save what you want. If the craft ice maker is set properly and is still not creating ice spheres, check the feeler's arm at the top of your refrigerator. This is important. If the feeler arm is pushed up, the icemaker will stop producing ice to prevent any overflow. Be sure that the feeler arm is not obstructed and can move freely. If everything suggested is applied successfully, you may want to check if the refrigerator is connected to a drinkable water source. Be sure to check if the valve connecting to the water supply is fully open for water flow. If all checks are fine, and the issue still persists, we would recommend replacing the ice maker, part number PS12724823. Glad to be of assistance!
Watch YouTube videos on this topic if you are uncertain before tackling the job. The right door was easy to replace. Just pull the gasket with your fingers and it will come off easily. Place new gasket over door and use fingers to press it inside the groove few inches at a time. Pay attention to gasket orientation.
The left door is a bit harder because you need to remove the mullion at the door edge using a screw driver. Remove two screws on the center hinge and then slide the mullion up to disengage. Then unplug the wires to remove the mullion. Replace the gasket as described above and replace the mullion reversing the directions shown above.
Turn off the power to the refrigerator. Remove the back plate. Unplug the fan motor. Remove the fan housing and pull the fan blade from the motor. Replace the motor by removing 4 screws. Replace with the new motor and reinstall the fan blades. Secure the fan housing, plug the fan motor, and screw on the back panel. Plug and go!
