evaporator fan goes off and on continually freezer and reefer holding temp for now
For model number KSCS23INSS01

Hello Ray, thank you for contacting us. We would recommend checking the thermistor, part number PS11739132. Sometimes due to a shorted thermistor, the control board senses the wrong temperature and it turns the fan on and off repeatedly. If this does not help, the evaporator fan motor, part number PS11723174, is probably faulty. Customer service is available 7 days a week if you need help placing an order. Glad to be of assistance!

fan shuts on and off refridgerator and freezer holding temperature then locks out unplugged and reset unit comes back to correct temperature then it starts short cycling fan again
For model number KSCS23INSS01
PartSelect logo
Hi Ray, Thank you for your question. In models that use an electronic control board, a thermistor or temperature sensor may be used to monitor fresh food and freezer temperatures. The sensor is a small capsule like device that is protected by a plastic shield and will vary in resistance depending on the temperature. The control board uses this information to turn on the compressor and fan circuits as well as to operate the damper control on some models. If a sensor becomes damaged or defective it may incorrectly signal the control board to turn off the compressor and fans and result in warmer than normal fresh food and freezer temperatures. You will need to test the thermistor for continuity with a multimeter to see if it is working correctly. The thermistor will need to be placed in ice water for 5 minutes to bring it to 32 degrees F before testing it. Set the multimeter to the Rx1 setting and place the probes on the terminals. You should receive a reading of 16600 ohms (+/- 5 percent). If you receive a reading outside this range, you will need a replacement temperature sensor or thermistor. We hope this helps with the repair!

Ice maker stopped functioning
Remove the icemaker service door... gently pry the door pins from the hinge sockets. Remove the 3 screws from the under side of the icemaker with a nut driver (1/4"). Gently remove the icemaker . It's a tight fit between the top of the compartment and the icemaker lower support tray. Next, disconnect the electrical connector at the right side. You're done! Reverse procedure for installing. Good luck. Remember, your working with cold plastic...take your time and don't force too much.
