when oven self-clean does not lock door, what could be the problem with self clean feature?

Hello Howard, thank you for getting in touch. If your oven's self-cleaning feature does not lock the door, the most common causes are a failed door lock motor, or a faulty door lock switch. The door lock motor and switch comes as assembly for your range. The part number is PS11747306. Mure that the door latch mechanism is not obstructed or damaged. Sometimes debris or a misalignment can prevent the latch from engaging properly. We hope this helps.
Something Kitchen Aid wont tell you but running a self clean on this model stove blows the fuse located on the back of the stove.
First I slid the stove out and removed the back of the stove held in place by 8 Phillips screws. The thermostat fuse is located near the top middle on the back of the stove. Remove the 2 screws holding it in place. Disconnect the wires, plug in the new part. Put it all back together. Job done in less than 30 minutes.
This repair would have cost $164 through A&E factory service.
