During the clean up mode, the oven lights are off and door to oven wont open. How do i get it open?
For model number GW395LEPS00
PartSelect logo
Hello Dawn, here is some information we found on door locked during clean mode. - If power was interrupted during a Self-Clean cycle, and the cycle did not resume, select the "Self Clean" option, then select "Cancel". Wait a couple of minutes then try to start the cycle again. -If the oven clean cycle was started by mistake: Press Cancel/Off key. The oven will need to cool to approximately 200F(95C) before the oven door will open. -Allow the oven to cool, approximately 30-90 minutes, move the latch arm to the left to unlock the door. Reset power to the product: Power unit down by turning off the circuit breaker(s) or fuse(s) for one (1) minute. Power unit up by turning on the circuit breaker(s) or fuse(s). Check the oven to see if oven has unlocked.

When I go to run the oven it does not respond to bake or any other button except for locking the door with the start button or E1 F5 if I press and hold the cancel button. The only other response I get are to rapid beeps. Would this be the control panel?

When using self cleaning, oven door wouldn't open and screen panel went blank.
I searched similar problems on the web and learned that a whole lot of people have Kitchenaid stove with the same problem. They all stated that the thermostat burns when self cleaning. Since technician wanted $190.00, I decided to change it myself. The part cost me $40.00. To instal the thermostat, I removed the panel at the back of the stove and the thermostat is attached with two wires. After I replaced the thrmostat, the screen panel came on and I was able to open the door. I am posting this to tell people that anyone can do this.

During the cleaning cycle, oven died and door locked
Apparently this is a common problem (defect) with KitchenAid ovens of various models. I am not a repairman, but replacing the thermostat was very simple. I pulled the stove out and removed the large back panel of the oven. The was right there in the open, impossible to miss. It looked identical the the replacement thermostat. There are only 2 screws and 2 wires to push on and it's fixed. Anybody can replace this part easy. I hope the replacement part is better than the original!

oven and broiler not working
I just looked at the tech sheet on the range and tested the gas valve with an ohm meter to see how much resistance I had and compared it to the tech sheet and noticed the gas valve was bad. So I replaced it with a new one from part select which arrived very fast. It was quite easy to replaced it.
