GTW720BSN1WS General Electric Washer - Instructions

Drain all the water out of the tub with a shop vac
Remove rear drain hose and drained rest of water into a bucket
Remove small rear panel (bottom left hand corner) where the drain hose connects
Tipped washer up about 45 degrees to get underneath it - Supported it with a few paint cans
Remove internal drain hose/clamps from pump - w/ pliers
Remove belt cover (gray plastic) with socket - 3 bolts
Remove wire assembly plug from socket
Remove old drain pump with socket - 3 bolts
Install new drain pump - 3 bolts - plug wire assembly into socket
Reinstall belt cover - 3 bolts
Reinstall hose to drain pump (note panel will be inside washer)
Feed drain hose panel through hole and reinstall - 1 nut
Re attached drain hose to exterior drain plug
You are done !

Very simple to repair. Be sure to drain the tub outside or into the sump pump then lay the washer on its side. The pump is right there on the bottom of the basket with 3 bolts. You will also need to remove the belt cover to get to the plug. So simple and saves you hundreds off repair man prices.

Removed the control panel back plate cover. Removed the 3 screws that held the water control valve in place. I then unplugged each solenoid one at a time and plugged it into the new control valve. Once all wires were transferred, I pulled the old valve up and put the new valve on. Then reinstalled the screws that held it down and reinstalled the cover plate. Very simple job !

I removed the back panel at he top of the washer, then remover the two screws that hold the top control panel in place. Then I removed the three screws that held the water valve in place. I removed the valve from the water ports and then disconnected the four electrical connectors. I plugged in the new valve and plugged the valve back into the water ports. Reinstalled the screws, control panel and the back panel. Very easy repair, anyone could do it!

You will need to shut off the water, unplug the washer, disconnect the water lines, disconnect and drain the drain line, tip the washer either at an angle or on its side, remove motor cover, disconnect drain pump electrical cable, remove drain pump, install new drain pump, reconnect drain pump electrical cable, reconnect drain line and water supplies, turn water back on and test the washer.

Note: I thought the drain pump was bad for 2 reasons. 1 was the washer had previously started to smell, indicating the washer might not be fully draining. 2 was that the washer would agitate (meaning motor seemed fine) but when it would normally start draining before spinning, the washer would do nothing (could hear a faint hum coming from the washer).

I unplugged the machine from the power source and removed the drain hose from the back and allowed any remaining water to drain out of the machine. I then tipped the machine back so that I could work underneath it and secured it in that position. I removed the old drain pump assembly by first disconnecting it from the outflow hose, then removing the three bolts which held the motor housing cover on and disconnecting it from the power source. This part was the the most difficult and time-consuming as the wires are plugged in very tightly but once those were separated, it was just a matter of unscrewing the drain pump assembly from where it was anchored to the underside of the washing machine. I simply reversed those steps to install the new one and it was in place within 10 minutes. Set the washing machine down in the correct position, reconnected the drain hose, and plug the machine in. I did reset the fault codes by using the manual found taped to the underside of the machine, but this was very simple to do and only took a few minutes. I’m not sure if it was necessary to do that step at the machine works perfectly now. I am a woman and found this repair very easy to do.

Dipped water out as much as possible,tited washer at a 45 degree angle and propped it up. Took the 3 bolts out holding the pump assembly and the 3 bolts holding the belt guard.Unplug wire connecter,pull out assembly and than pull drain hose off of assembly. Reinstall the same as you take apart. Was a easy fix, and worked as it should.

Removed the center agitator to clean it - had black mold and pink soap scum buildup underneath that you couldn't see or clean without taking it apart. Removed the bolt with ease. Upon tightening the bolt back in place, the bolt sheared in half, leaving the lower half threaded in place and the head in the socket. Had to use a drill bit and drill out the lower half of the bolt completely. Ordered the replacement bolt and reassembled everything in less than 5 minutes. Replacement part was perfect - hopefully it lasts longer than the original bolt.

Unplug washer; turn off hot/cold water valves at wall. Access rear of washer; remove 2 long screws anchoring control panel; remove 3 short screws along top of control panel; remove panel; rotate panel forward to rest on washer top (disconnect orange pressure attached to green computer panel. Blue water valve assembly is obvious! Remove hot & cold inlet hoses from washer (have bucket handy to catch water in hoses). Take picture of old water valve so you can reinstall electrical clips in exact same sequence! Remove 3 short screws that anchor water valve; lift out water valve; disconnect clips; gently life out old water valve. Install new water valve in reverse order.

Use needle-nose pliers as a lever to remove tight electrical clips (they are not designed to come loose easily). Google online videos. Really easy, when you watch a couple videos!

The drain pump had three screws. Frist unplug the machine and turn the water off. And unplug the hose for the Hot and Clod Water. Make sure their no water in the tub. Unplug the pipe from the Tub. The unscrew the nut for the connector. Then unplug the connector and be careful not to damage plug for the connector. Press the plug connector with your finger or long nose pliers . Then just hook the new plumb and you all set.

Replaced water pump. Washer now works as new.
Wife is now happy!

Took the belt cover and then replaced the pump. Did a dry run and everything was fine.

1 Disconnect power 2) Cut water supply to washer 3) Disconnect water supply hoses from supply.
***if pump broke with water in tub, remove water from tub. 4) tip machine onto it's front side 5) remove hose clamp of exhaust hose & then remove exhaust hose from pump 6) Remove pump with socket/ratchet 7) disconnect pump electrical plug 8) tell old pump to take a hike & throw in garbage 9)Iinstall new pump 10) Do steps 7—1 in reverse order to put back into business.******Be prepared to do it again in 6 months; I havnt had good luck!

Being a woman I had to figure out tipping it in its front. I put it on a dollie and drop it down real easy.
Removed all water lines after water was shut off.
Removed bolts. Removed bolts on plate to the right to unplug old pump.
Plugged in new one and replaced all bolts, hoses and tipped her back up. Works like a charm and I saved $408 by doing it myself!!!!!

Disconnect power,turn off water,disconnect hose hot and cold. Disconnect drain hose careful water may drain out after you disconnect. Move washer to a place where you have enough room to work.Now lean washer to the floor on its back side Make sure to hold the lid from falling back I secure the lid with tape so it would not open. The washer should on its back side , you should see a gray wheel with a nut.Remove nut and pull the gray wheel off. you feel a magnetic pull, Once removed, you will see 3 screws remove stator now remove all screws holding the speed senors remove Mode shifter hold the Clutch because the spring is under it. Once you start it easy to replace. install new parts.
