How do I install replacement brush holders
For model number 8144
Hi Michael, thank you for contacting us. Here are some relevant instructions for you to replace the brush holders. They may not be of the exact same model, but they will help you with the process. You may follow the following steps: set the trimmer on its side and remove the screws holding the upper housing. After un-threading the screws, set the housing aside. Un-thread the two screws of the bracket securing the armature assembly and set it aside. The carbon brushes are attached on the left and right side on the armature. Pull the brush holder upwards from both sides. Now remove the carbon brushes from the holders. Remove the wires attached to the brush holders and replace them. Follow the same procedure backwards to reassemble the trimmer. We hope this information is useful!

I found this unit by the side of the road. One power input terminal was loose. Inside it was broken. Replacement was to remove the screws, pull out the wire, and cut the wire next to the terminal. I was able to strip the wire and crimp it in the terminal. I then soldered both terminals for a good connection.
