Washer not agitating
On top of the agitator is a flat cap that is held in place by the friction of an o-ring, there are no fasteners. I would imagine one could get under the lip with a small screwdriver or butter knife to pop it off but I chose simply using my fingernails so as to not disfigure the cap. Under the cap you will find the head of the only bolt that holds the assembly together it is a 7/16 head and because it is in a 4" deep well your will need a 6" extension for your ratchet. Once the bolt is out the top of the agitator, the assembly with the cogs removes by hand. Set the assembly upside down on the counter, slide the black plastic ring off, pull the cogs out with your fingertips, install the new cogs put a new black ring on and set the assembly back in the agitator. Reinstall bolt. As the bolt is down in a tube, you cannot set it in place with your fingers and it will fall out of the socket. To hold the bolt in the socket during positioning you can either put a gob of Vaseline on the bolt head to hold it in the socket or form a small piece of paper over the bolt head and set it into the socket, the friction of the paper will hold the bolt into the socket. Took me less then 10 minutes, good luck
before ordering the parts, I pulled the cap of the agitator, removed some internal parts of the agitator - had to remove one hex head bolt, and noticed the threads on the 3 little teenie weenie plastic dogs were worn off. I bought the repair kit on line after entering the model number, parts were here in a few days, and the repair took about 15 minutes. Works like new again.
The directions provided with the parts were very clear and made the job quick, easy, and painless.
Found directional gogs broken. Searched washer model # on PS.com and easily found schematic drawing. Received parts in a couple of days. Removed agitator with one nut, and other parts just pulled apart. Replaced the cogs and other parts which were not really broken....just worn. Everything went back together easily, and I was done! Parts Select saved me a LOT of time, and especially money, than if I had called a repair co. THANKS!
Three of the four agitator cogs had broken. The agitator was able to spin freely both clockwise encounter clockwise which it should not be doing. I replaced the cogs as well as a couple additional parts just to be sure but the cogs were the important one. Very easy.
The Agitator in my washing machine wasn't spinning, and was loose.
After researching and learning from the university of YouTube, I ordered new agitator 'dogs' from PartSelect - the rubbery dogs which look like gummy bears, were worn out in my machine and needed to be replaced. These dogs secure the inner part of the agitator. After watching several videos on YouTube, I knew precisely what to do and what I needed. I researched and found PartSelect on-line and they were very helpful and sending me the dogs. It was a very simple fix, and my washing machine now is working like brand new. Thanks PartSelect for all your help and will reach out again for any future self-fix projects!!
Diagnosing the problem took a couple of hours, because the fabric softener dispenser was so full; I tried to pry it apart but to do that I had to destroy it!:-) While I was cleaning the place for the dispenser I decided to take off the cover, clean out everything - then ordered the parts. Once the parts arrived I watched the video for assembly ... and the rest was easy.

We are house renters with an existing Maytag top load washer dom 2014. Now during certain rise times and during spin cycle the cycle starts with the tub banging around the side walls. The tubs gets going and balance out then on next cycle the startup bang begins again. There are no balance springs in this design.

Hello Dan, thank you for inquiring. For this symptom you will want to replace either the Washer Drive Pulley part PS10057144, the Thrust Spacer part PS334562, or the Drive Belt part PS11747978. We hope this helps.

Agitator leans forward and must be held balanced toward back and loaded while filling with water at start and during rinse cycle or water leaks. What is problem?

Hi Steve, thank you for a very interesting question. Based on the understanding of the issue, we would recommend checking the agitator bolt, part number PS11741866, to fix the issue. It may be loose and cause the agitator to go forward. We hope this helps!
