Washer won’t lock lid and start cycle. If I slam the lid or fiddle with the white plastic thing that comes out of the cabinet I can get it to work. Is this the entire part I need, including the wiring, to fix this problem?

What is the difference between the lid Lock Latch and the Lid Lock Assembly?
For model number WTW8500DC5
Hi Mike, thank you for reaching out. We have researched and found that both the lid lock assembly and lid lock latch have the same function. They prevent the washer lid from opening during the wash cycle and spin cycle. The only difference is symptoms that the lid lock assembly controls the door function and the washer would not start if it was found to be defective. But the lid lock latch only controls the door opening or closing. We hope this information is useful!
