Timer knob cracked twice. Found out the timer switch was bad.
Removed the 3 knobs. They just pull off. Removed 6 screws on the back side of the control panel. The front (plastic panel then just separates from the back). Then look at how the switch is mounted on the plastic panel. There should be 2 small pieces of plastic that holds it in. Carefully twist the switch in the appropriate direction so it comes free. Before you remove any wires from the old switch remember what colors go where ! I used needle nose pliers to remove the connections from the switch. Make the new connections, mount the switch, put the screws back in the panel. BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING. UNPLUG THE ELECTRICAL CORD !!!

START knob and plastic underneath broken
It was so incredibly simple! The site made it foolproof to find the right parts - and the actual replacement job itself was easier than we ever could have imagined. Background: I love to do laundry - I mean A LOT! So - I use the washer and dryer every night to wash the familie's clothing and blankets and towels. After heavy use - the outer knob stripped out. We threw it away and were using pliers to turn the small plastic knob underneath. After a few months - that plastic wore down and we could not turn it on at all!

Dryer making grinding noises
We live in a Condominium, space is tight especially in the Utility room where the washer/dryer are located. Turned dryer breaker off at the electical panel.
Removed the top cover and front assembly w/door and front drum support, right where the unit was located. Had to gain rear access to loosen drum drive belt so undid the dryer vent hose to floor connection through a front acess hole. Moved the unit out to the breakfast nook as well as disconnecting the power cable from the wall socket. Removed the rear access panel covers and unhooked the drive belt. At the front removed the top screws off the lower cross member to allow spreading of the side covers to allow the removal of the drum. Removed drum and found the bearing bushing gone, reduced to powder.
Using the supplied instuction sheet, replaced the rear bearing assembly, replaced the drum after vacumming the whole interior and started the reassembly of the unit using the new belt and moved the unit back into place. Reconnected the power cable and dryer vent then lastly replaced the lint filter and selector knob. Closed the breaker and turned on the machine, no noise!!!
Incidently I am 78 years old. Thanks PartSelect.

it would over flow with water
First I removed the 4 screws that held the element in place. I pulled it out, and than I decided to check on the hose that was attached to the water level pressure switch, so I opened the front of the washer and sure enough, all I had to do was clean the hose attached to the water sensor, and as it turned out, I really did not need to change the water sensor, but at least I have a water level pressure switch, water sensor just in case I really do need to change it.

Could not adjust timer/switch
I had immediately assumed the problem was the timer/switch, P/N WE4M365 and foolishly ordered that part. Should you ever encounter non-adjustment of the timer/switch, try another knob from the console. That was the only problem here as it turns out. Also, the knob DOES come with the "D" shaped insert clip.

Just followed the installation video. The only issue with the video was that a phillips screwdriver was specified and I actually needed a torx screwdriver.

Just received the d knob clip part #ps6011700. How do you get the clip to fit into the knob, i'm afraid i'm going to break it forcing it in?
PartSelect logo
Hello Susan, thank you for your question. The D-Shaped Knob Clip should simply slide into the hole on the back of the knob itself. You may need to push quite hard to get it into place but it should not damage the knob itself. I hope this helps!

The washer would not turn on, the dial just spins, it will not "engage" the gear? Of the control/timer. I disassembled and there is a small plastic shaft that has teeth on both ends that the knob catches with and allows the dial to turn. One end of the plastic (black approximately 3/4" long by 3/8" od) appears "sheared" which i would guess goes inside the timer.

Hello Craig, thank you for your question. It sounds like you need the timer knob as well as the timer. The timer knob comes in two pieces, the knob you grab to turn part number PS6447712 and the diap part, that has the small indicator line on it part number PS6011700. If the shaft of the timer itself is cracked, or broken or worn, you would want to replace the timer as well. That is part number PS4704240. I hope this helps!
