Easy install not the problem
The part I ordered was not the problem but because I hooked it up I'm understanding it can't be returned. Which sucks because, now I have a $135.00 part that wasn't the problem and I still need to order another part that's going to cost $85.00 to see if that the part I need.

START knob and plastic underneath broken
It was so incredibly simple! The site made it foolproof to find the right parts - and the actual replacement job itself was easier than we ever could have imagined. Background: I love to do laundry - I mean A LOT! So - I use the washer and dryer every night to wash the familie's clothing and blankets and towels. After heavy use - the outer knob stripped out. We threw it away and were using pliers to turn the small plastic knob underneath. After a few months - that plastic wore down and we could not turn it on at all!

The timer switch was so hard to turn it broke the knob.
I pulled the dryer three feet from the wall. UN-PLUGGED THE UNIT!! Removed 3 screws from the very top of the dryer, and pulled 1 wire at a time from the old switch and put it on the new one. Super easy.

Faulty Timer
Pulled dryer out from wall, disconnected dryer power cord, removed 3 screws on back that fasten control panel, tilted panel forward, rotated faulty timer to remove it. Removed wires one at a time and connected each to new timer on same connection as on old timer.

Plastic knob attached to motor snapped off.
Ordered part from the make and model number on the inside of dryer. Unplugged and Took screws off the back panel. Unplugged all color of wires while remembering where they went. Put in new motor and put wire plugs back in place, then screwed back plate cover back in place. NOTE: It's like changing a fuse in your car. It was really easy!

the dryer knob was broken
I went on line to Parts select to price the part and found it had directions to fix it also.I purchased the new timer for my dryer and since I had originally broke the knob I purchased that as well..for under $100. I received the part, took that dryer apart, replaced the broken parts and now have a working dryer. I can feel very proud of myself that I did not have the added expenses of a repair man to go with it. Thanks for your help. Barbara R.

Dryer would not shut off
Unplug the dryer.Pull out from wall and remove the torx bolts from the back of the control panel. You'll sort of tilt the control panel back enabling you to reach the dryer timer.Make sure you don't pop out the wires on the other switches. The start button for example(I accidentally did.)Observing the location of the wires on the timer being replaced twist and pop it out.Install the wires onto the new timer and pop it back in.I recommend doing a quick test to see if repair was successful before putting the dryer completely back together.

Dryer timer - when turning the knob to select a timed setting the knob turns with no effort almost spins and the dryer will not turn on. A few days before, the dryer would only turn on at certain timed settings and shutting off before drying time was finished.
For model number GTDP300EM1WS
Hi Keri,
Thank you for your inquiry. If the timer knob is turning with no effort you may need a d-shaped knob insert clip to keep it in place. The part number for it is PS267091. If this does not fix the issue you may have to look at the timer. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

The timer for my GE dryer (#we4m533) on you site looks different than the one in my dryer. It seems that there are less wire post, and when i transfer wires from my dryer to the new timer they are not in the same order. And i have no way of knowing where to place them.

I need the d shaped shaft that goes into the timer. Thats the only part that is broken, i don't need the full timer.
For model number WE4M533
Hello Jake, thank you for inquiring! Unfortunately, the shaft is only sold as part of the timer, so you would need to purchase the timer to replace the shaft. Good luck with your repair!

If this part is broken, does it effect basically everything, e.G. Starting, interior light, et al?
For model number GTDX200GM1WW
Hello Ed,
Thank you for the great question. The timer would not effect the interior lights from coming on. It can effect the appliance from starting. If you are getting no power at all to the appliance I suggest checking the Power cord to make sure it is in a working socket and it is plugged all the way in, they can come loses over time from the appliance moving with uneven loads. I would also check to make sure there is no damage to the terminal block where the cord is attached.
Hope this helps!

The dryer will not shut off. Doesn't matter where the knob is set. Is timer bad?
For model number DHDSR46EG1WW
Hi Pauline , Thank you for the question. Yes I suggest replacing the Timer Switch. To complete this repair you will need a #2 Phillips screwdriver. To access the timer, you will need to remove the top of the back panel. Disconnect the wires to the timer terminals, remove the timer knob, and unclip the timer from its metal tab. Replace with the new timer and reassemble the wires and remaining parts. Make sure to disconnect power to the dryer before beginning this repair.Good luck with the repair!
