Coils are freezing up and the fridge is warm. Not sure if the fan is bad or something is not telling the fan to operate.
Hi Mike,
Thank you for your question. If the fresh food and freezer sections of your refrigerator are too warm, depending on what brand and type of refrigerator you have, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the temperature control, the evaporator fan motor, the electronic control board, the temperature sensor, the defrost thermostat, the defrost timer, the defrost heater and the condenser fan motor. We have included a link that you may reference on how to check these parts. Once you have determined the part you need, please feel free to call customer service. We are open 7 days a week and anyone will be happy to assist you. We look forward to hearing from you!
Does the scroll fan on the refrigerator side defrost the coil? How can I test the scroll fan?
For model number KRSC503ESS00
Hello Jeff, thank you for getting in touch. The scroll fan does not defrost the coils. Its function is to circulate air throughout the refrigerator section to improve cooling. You can test the fan using a multimeter. Set the resistance on the multimeter to 20,000 ohms. To test the fan, you need to place multimeter probes into the plug attached to the wire of the fan. Attach the probes to the terminals. If the reading is less than 6K ohms, the fan needs to be replaced. We hope this is what you were looking for!
