Ice n water dispenser works great now. Just be sure to push tubes into feed holes deep enough. One of three were not pushed deep enough originally.. had a drip leak when testing. After pushing tube deeper.. part worked fine.

Ice maker was not making ice. Could hear mechanism trying to work, but no water getting to ice maker. Confirmed main inlet and drinking water solenoid valves were working. New water filter installed. Only thing left (or so I thought was the dual solenoid valve part (ice maker and drinking water valv
Removed lower back cover of refrigerator; isolated water at wall, removed existing dual solenoid valve and installed new replacement valve assembly. Replaced back cover.
Unfortunately, this DID NOT correct the problem. Frustrated to spend that kind of money on something that was not needed.

No water to ice maker
Got resistance values from partselect. Coil was not in range. I remove rear cardboard cover,shut off water. Valve located on right side rear. Hoses are quick release. Unplug wire harnesses.

Water was leaking from back of fridge
After pulling the fridge out and removing the dust cover over the lower portion in back of the fridge, I could see water dripping from the inlet valve between the water main to the icemaker and the water dispenser in the door. 1. Unplug the fridge 2. Place a towel under the fridge to absorb any over flow 3. Turn off the water supply to the fridge - this is usually at a tap valve on the cold water line. trace the line from the back of the fridge to find the connection point. In the unlikely event there is not valve at the tap valve or if it is inaccessible, turn off the main water supply. If you have to turn off the main supply turn on a faucet somewhere in the house to bleed the pressure from the line. 4. If the valve is tied to the frame or line , undo the tie or cut the zip tie (in my case) 5. Unplug each electric connector from the old valve to the new one. 6. The water connections are all quick connect so release the intake line by pressing down on the white ring and removing the tube. Press the tube into the new valve. 7. Repeat with each line going to the refrigerator making sure to plug each tube into the same outlet you pulled it from 8. In each case to minimize water coming out of the tube, hold your finger over the end while transferring to the new valve. 9. Verify that all tubing ends are FULLY pressed to the valve 10. Turn the water back on slowly and check for leaks. if some are seen turn water back off and repeat steps 6 thru 9. 11. Plug fridge in 12. Run water from the door faucet to bleed any air out 13. Clean up any spillage 14. Replace dust cover (if present) and replace refrigerator in place Piece of cake

Ice maker quit making ice but the water dispenser still works. I replaced the ice maker and still no ice. Thinking about trying the water inlet valve next, but if it were bad wouldn't the water dispenser not work too? Why would the water dispenser work and not the water dispenser for the ice maker?

Hi Jason, thank you for your question. The valve has two solenoids that control either the dispenser or the ice maker. Even if your dispenser is working the ice maker solenoid may not be and vise versa. The valve can be tested with a multi meter and should be reading between 500 - 1500 ohms of resistance. I changed the water filter in my refrigerator, and now the machine makes a hammering noise when i dispense water. It does not make the noise when the filter is removed. The sound is the hoses banging against the back of the fridge when water it's being dispensed with the filter in place. We've removed the filter and put it back in, thinking perhaps it was not in quite right, but the sound continues after filter is replaced, and after we've let it run long enough to release any trapped air. Will replacing the valve with this part solve the problem?

The valve may fix that issue, but we would recommend checking the water filter housing for any cracks or holes in the hoses that run to the housing and from the housing. It sounds like there is air getting into the lines at some point. If that doesn't help, replacing the valve may solve the issue. I hope this helps!

I have R/O going to fridge and it worked fine for two years, water dispenser got very slow but ice maker was okay. Replaced water filter and it got worse. Checked supply hose from wall to fridge and when testing flow to fridge I found a weird substance that was firm and cylindrical like it had grown inside the water line and was blocking flow at first fridge valve. I removed first valve and back flushed to clean (I assume there is a screen inside valve) Ice maker is working fine but water dispenser only drips. Any ideas on what I should check next? Thank you.

If the water filter, part number PS11701542, was recently replaced, dripping from the dispenser may occur because air is trapped in the water filter. To get rid of the air, dispense some water to dissipate any air bubbles trapped in the system. If the issue still exists, replace the inlet valve, part number PS11750831. Hello R, thank you for your question. First check a few things to look at. If you have dripping after you had dispensed crushed ice, tiny pieces of shaved ice stick in or around the ice chute, and eventually melts. Also, there may be air in the line so you can remove the water filter and dispense one gallon of water. And if the Inlet Valve is worn or defective, water can be slowly be introduced into the line and should be replaced. We hope this helps.

Icemaker is not making ice. Water dispenser works. Followed your suggestion to another person and poured water in it. It made and ejected ice. Does that mean that I need an inlet valve?

My water dispenser works but I get very slow, weak flow. Ice maker works fine. I have replaced filter and assume one or both valve replacements will solve the problem?

Hello Fred, Thank you for the question. We suggest testing the Valves. Set your multitester to the R X 1 ohms setting to test for continuity. Place each of the multitester's leads on a terminal. Your multitester should display a reading between 200 and 500 ohms. Closely examine your water inlet valve. The exact ohm resistance rating you should test for may be marked on the valve. My kitchenaid stopped making ice. The water dispenser works fine but ice trays aren’t getting water to make ice. I noticed two different water inlet valves that could be the culprit. How do you tell which one it is? Do they both control water and ice maker water?

Hi Adam, thank you for reaching out. The water inlet valves, part numbers PS11753250, and PS11750831 can be tested with a multimeter. No water to the ice dispenser. Tested the water inlet valves.
Main water valve= 248 ohms
1/4" water line to solenoid= 193 ohms
water line for dispenser=253
Also, electric eye inside ice container is not blinking.

The water dispenser stops working randomly. The pump hums but does not dispense water. Then, 10-30 minutes later, it works again. It does this a couple of times each day. Could the inlet valve be going bad and need replacement?
