Can you tell me where the thermistor is located on this side-by-side refrigerator?
For model number LSC26905TT
PartSelect logo
Hi Art, Thank you for your inquiry. There is a cover on the wall toward the front of your appliance approximately in the middle portion, in both your fridge and freezer section. If you pop off this cover, you should see your thermistor there. Good luck with your repair.

Our freezer is not defrosting. We had major ice build up behind the back panels where the fan is and where the coils are. We are also getting the error code on the display indicating a defrost issue (freezer lights 1-4 lit up). I tried putting in a replacement main pcb, which did not fix the problem. The original board had the large fuse blown. Just wondering what might be the most likely causes and how to troubleshoot?

Hi Jonathan, Thank you for your question. If your freezer is not defrosting, you will need to check the defrost sensor and the defrost heater assembly to see which part is causing the issue. You will need to test these parts with a multimeter for continuity. Before removing these parts from the refrigerator and testing them, unplug the refrigerator from the electrical outlet and turn the water off. Before testing the defrost sensor, you will need to place it in ice water for 5 minutes in order to bring the temperature to 32 degrees F. The sensor will produce different readings at different temperatures, and the suggested ranges below only apply to sensors at a temperature of 32 degrees F. With the probes on the terminals and your multimeter set to Rx1, you should receive a reading of 16,600 ohms (+/- 5 percent). If you receive a reading outside this range, you will need a replacement sensor. For the defrost heater, set your multimeter to the Rx1 setting and place the leads on one terminal each. This should produce a reading anywhere in between zero and infinity. If you receive a reading of zero or infinity, you will need a replacement defrost heater. We hope this helps! Good luck with the repair!

I get error code r dh everyday. Would defrost sensor 6500jb2001b take care of that issue?
For model number LMXS30796S/00
PartSelect logo
Hello Joe, Thank you for the question. The R DH Error Code indicates that 80 minutes have passed since defrost, but the defrost sensor is not over 40 degrees. We suggest testing the Sensor. The best way to do this is to remove the thermostat from the refrigerator so you can control the temperature of the sensor. You can let the sensor warm up to room temperature. With the sensor warmed up to room temperature the sensor should read approximately 6.2K Ohms at 68°F. With the thermistor submerged is a glass full of ice water, the sensor should be very close to 32°F which should read approximately 16.3K Ohms. If the values that you are getting are far off from these readings, then the sensor is bad and should be replaced. We hope this helps!

I have an error code er dh on my refrigerator could you please let me know which part i need to purchase and replace. Thanks, thomas
For model number lfx259778st /00
PartSelect logo
Hello Thomas, Thank you for contacting us. First you can try to reset the codes as it may just be a glitch. To do this press & hold Start for 5 seconds to clear the panel and unplug the unit for 30 seconds. Plug it back in and if the code does not reappear everything is fine. Should the code persist this is an indication that there is an issue with the defroster. Typically it would mean that the defrost mechanism has failed to reach 46°F within 2 hours to defrost ice in the freezer.

Using Smart Diagnosis, the system returned an error code F-ds. This appears to be the defrost sensor for the freezer compartment. I would guess that this sensor is positioned directly on the evaporator coils. Is this a part that is easily replaceable by a capable homeowner? What could go wrong during the replacement?
PartSelect logo
Hello Dan, thank you for your question. There is a sensor that is on the Freezer Evaporator and it is part PS11732655 and there is another sensor on the Refrigerator Evaporator that is part PS3599308. We do not have installation information. You may call a technician or check for a video on YouTube. We hope this information will help you.

My freezer has stopped making ice. Could this be a sensor problem or a solenoid problem? I have cleaned the sensor lenses in the freezer. Also the switch is turned on.
For model number LMX25988ST
PartSelect logo
Hello Duncan, Thank you for your inquiry. We would recommend checking the following parts to fix your issue: water fill tubes, water inlet valve, filter and ice maker assembly. You can test the parts with a multimeter, and make sure that the tubes are not frozen, cracked or clogged. Hope this helps!
