Opened the back and noticed a fan blade off making the motor unbalanced. Ordered a new fan and motor and went to (you tube ) that explained the whole procedure. Couldn’t get any easier.
Removed ice dispenser and display with small screwdriver from front of the fridge. Pried out the whole piece slowly. This exposed the motor that activates the chute. Plugged in the new motor before any removal to verify the motor was the problem. When it worked, removed old and installed new. 3 screws. Piece of cake.
Took off door per normal instructions. Removed the old stopper and hinge assembly (the hard rubbery parts had worn enough against each other to cause the annoying sound when opening and closing the door). Inserted the new stopper and hinge assembly. There was no locking nut on the newer part, so just had to level the fridge door without that part of the instructions (from normal LG instructions) Overall easy for a non-handy person and the annoying sound is gone. Wife is happier now.
