Knob's plastic hub broken
selected correct replacement knob. used small screw driver to remove small black metal sleeve from switch shaft. (had left that in place to be able to turn on dryer with needle nose pliers while waiting on knob). aligned flat of new knob with switch shaft and gently pressed into place.

loud squeaking noise from dryer
This is a combo washer/dryer. First, I replaced the Idler Arm pulley but the noise didn't stop - it was easy to replace with two screws holding a access panel door in the back of the unit. Next I had to take off the front of the dryer unit to access the drum bearing and replace the dryer belt. There were many screws and electrical connections to remove. After replacing the drum bearing, there was a plate on the back that had to be held while attaching the screws from the front. Since I was alone, I taped the plate in place to hold it while I attached the screws.
Removed all the knobs but the master washing machine control knob, then the control and cover panels by removing the two screws that held each one. Then removed the end plastic pieces to allow access to screws holding the switch onto control panel. Used pliers to pull wires off the old switch and put them back on new switch. Screwed it back in place and re-attached plastic end pieces. Re-attached the control panel, then the cover panel under the control panel.
It is just a knob that starts the dryer. The knob is rather large, but it turns on the dryer. No tools needed. It took 5 seconds.

Broken Knobs on two control switches. The switches needed to be replaced.
Had to trial and error my way to getting the control panel off. The parts diagrams on this site were very helpful, but didn't tell the entire story. Started to pull the entire front dryer panel off then found that only needed to remove two panel screws to gain access to all the screws holding the control panel on. With those removed the panel came off as a unit and was easily disassembled. Screws securing the switches are easlily stripped, so be careful. Rest of job was just pulling off wiring clips and reattaching. Everything went back together easily.
Too much force was applied to my knob and it broke.
The cat was not used for mechanical advantage. Rather he was present for worker's safety regulations. He is a bit of a tool though.
Firstly, I removed the knob from the packaging. Secondly, I stuck it on the peg.

Knob fell off - start switch shaft broken from pliers
Unplug the dryer!! I warned my partner of this at first, but she didn't listen.... got quite a little shock from the wires. Removed the back panel with a phillips head screwdriver, removed the connecting wires from the starter box. One was a bit snug, so I loosened it with some flat-nosed pliers. Twisted the unit and it popped right out! Once the part came in I popped it back in, twisted it until it locked into place, put the connecting wires on and replaced the panel. The knob snapped on easily and it all took about 10 minutes total to do! I'm not much of a repairman or electrician and this was SUPER easy!

I purchased do knobs from another company and one of the same model number manufacturer part number one 34844 7 0 and when i got them they did not fit on the shaft they were too tight. Are these Frigidaire parts are Electrolux parts?
