It was an easy repair and the part worked great : I have a working fridge!
I ordered the thermostat, a starter capacitor and the metal cover which goes over the thermostat and the refrigeration radiator. I placed my order about 9:30 one morning and it was at my door by 8:30 the next morning (23 hours)! I didn't realize the parts were shipped from Truro, Nova Scotia and I live in a neighbouring town. I repaired my fridge and it works great. to give some contrast, I've got a microwave oven that's under warranty and it takes over 3 weeks to get a technician to make the 1/2 hour drive from the same town to my town. If you can do it, it's way more economical and way faster to fix it yourself!!! PartSelect is my first choice!

Fixed warm fridge
Fixed the problems we were having with a warm fridge. Was disappointed when the order confirmation stated shipping would be Purolator 3-5 days but when the shipping confirmation came they changed it to Canada Post which took 12 days. Not ideal when your fridge is almost unusable.

refrigerator would cool down when controler was turned off then on but would not maintain temperature resulting in unit getting too warm and jeapordizing food.
Unplugged unit from power source. Emptied the vegetable crisper and the removed crisper including the permanently fixed mounts on either lower wall of the unit which are retained with screws. Removed temperature control knob. Then removed interior back panel that covers cooling panel and controller. Carefully work panel loose as it is very thin and bendable metal. Note gaskets at each end of the panel and save for re-install. After working panel loose carefully find controller and pinch the mounting bracket of the controller which allows it to release from the panel. Now you may set panel out of the way and continue disassembling the controller. It has a thermal wire that is mounted to the back of the fridge wall with a screw clam. Note position and shape then remove. Remove ground and power connections noting position of each. Take new controller and attach ground and power connection. Bend thermal wire using thumb as a shaper to exacting shape of the old one and position in clamp and secure with screw. Note old controller had a Styrofoam cover and return this cover after attaching new controller to the cover panel. After this, reposition the cover panel and retain with screws but don't tighten screws all the way as you need to be able to shift panel while replacing gaskets at the ends. Place the end gaskets where they originally were and work both in until they seat. Tighten screws on the panel. Replace crisper and plug in. Good luck it fixed mine and the unit works great.

Refrigerator compressor will not come on unless temperature control knob is turned or thumped.Do i need a new temperature controller?
For model number 253.44723100
Hello Rick, thank you for your question. Yes, if the control knob has to be turned or jiggled to get the compressor to come on we would recommend replacing the control thermostat. Good luck with your repair.

Hi, I've got a Frigidaire refrigerator only unit. It's running warmer on the inside and can only get down to 50 degrees f no matter what position I put the temperature control to. The evaporator coil is free of frost and the evaporator fan is running. The condenser coil is clear of dust and the condenser fan is running. Any ideas on what might be acting up with it ? Thanks! I recently ordered this part from you & installed it. The fridge turns on & off with the control knob but the temperature is not being adjusted. Is it possible the wires are connected opposite the way they are supposed to be? Will the unit still turn on but not control the temperature?
For model number PLRU1778ES0
Hi Evan,
Thank you for your question. It is possible that the wires are connected correctly. I would recheck them. There are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the defrost timer, the condenser fan motor, the defrost thermostat, the run capacitor, the filter-drier, and the electronic control board. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Fridge just keeps running & the temperature in the fridge gets too cold no matter where I set the temperature control
For model number PLRH1779GS2
Hello Frank, Thank you for the question. We suggest testing the Defrost Thermostat. The best way to do this is to remove the thermostat from the refrigerator so you can control the temperature of the sensor. You can let the sensor warm up to room temperature. With the sensor warmed up to room temperature the sensor should read approximately 6.2K Ohms at 68°F. With the thermistor submerged is a glass full of ice water, the sensor should be very close to 32°F which should read approximately 16.3K Ohms. If the values that you are getting are far off from these readings, then the sensor is bad and should be replaced. If you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!
