Original lamp burned out.
After looking up on the computer a schematic of the unit, all that was needed was removing four screws to remove the top and side cover which was one piece. Next was removal of electrical connection to burned out lamp, then removing burned out lamp and installing the new lamp and reconnecting electrical connection. Job was complete after reinstalling the cover.
Microwave now working with new lamp lighting when in use.

Light burned out
I happen to have a set of "security" screw driver tips which are required for this appliance - available for about $10 at Home Depot or Harbor Freight. Remove three security screws from back of housing, lift up and aft to remove the cover. The light is on the left in a "snap in" mounting so use a flat blade screw driver to push back the retainer and lift out the old bulb then disconnect the two "push on" wires and install the new light. Total time about 10 minutes. The only issue is the requirement for a security driver set.

When I plug it in there's nothing going on. Panel off, no lights, no sound.

Hi Maria,
Thank you for your question. There are a couple of parts that you may want to check. I will caution you when attempting any repairs on a microwave though. There is a capacitor inside your microwave that even with your power turned off, has a stored charge that could hurt you. You have to safely dispel that charge. The parts that you should look at are your door switches, your cavity thermostat, and your fuse as well. Good luck with your repair.

The following model number (JE2160SF01 is noted inside my GE Profile built in microwave which was part of the GE package when I built my home in 2005. I'm not sure why it can't be found, so I used model number JE2160F001 in order to be able to submit my question. It might not be found because of the age or part of a packaged deal when I built my house.
The interior light went out, so I need to replace it. I've seen one video on how to replace the bulb. There are several parts that need to be removed before getting to the bulb, but I need to know if the capacitor needs to be discharged to replace the bulb. It will need to be unplugged from the built in cabinet to be removed to get to the back. Does the capacitor need to be discharged to replace the interior bulb?

Hi Marcy, thank you for reaching out. The light bulb for your model is part number PS247776. Before replacing the light bulb, we would suggest discharging the high-voltage capacitor. Good luck with your repair!
