F01 Error Code
At first, my dryer would just make a clicking noise but would not start. After some research, I unplugged it to try to 'reset' it and after that, I noticed the F01 error. Some quick research on the internet you can find the source of the error is a failed machine board. Some DYI people soldered the part where the connection broke but, I chose to just buy the new part. I was pretty confident where the error was and did not want to waste time and the cost of a repair man visit. I followed the instructions on the most thorough YouTube video and removed the top of the dryer, took pictures of the control board wires and began the removal process. The insertion fo the new board took about 1 minute. All in all, the physical work took my husband and I about 10 minutes. Research was about an hour and I had the part shipped overnight. This website has saved me hundred of dollars and lots of wasted time trying to find a repair man when Covid has made it difficult to get anyone to your house. Our washer sprung a leak during the initial lockdown and we were able to fix that ourselves as well.
My only comment about the part is that the chime at the end of the cycle is very different. I have yet to find out if I can change that but it is not too bothersome.
I love this website and its products!

My dryer is giving an f01 code and won't start drying. I tried to reset it by disconnecting it but it will shut down as soon as i try to dry. Gives the f01 code then shuts off. I need the electronic control board, correct?

F01 code flashes on my Whirlpool dryer duet sport and will not start?
For model number WED8300SW2
Hi Joan,
Thank you for your question. That error code indicates that the machine control board has failed. This could have been caused by a power surge. Sometimes when you disconnect the power for 5 minutes it will reset the board. If you plug it in an the error code still persists, then you will have to replace your control board. Good luck with your repair.

Is the control board the actual computer and where is it located?
For model number wgd8300sw2
Hello Carmine,
Thanks for your question. Yes, the control board is the computer portion of the appliance. It is located behind the control panel. To access it, unplug your appliance, and then you would need to remove the top panel and control board bracket.
I hope this helps.

My dryer machine is not working, and i got an error code f01 ,so my question is ,do i have to change the electronic control board even if is not burnt?
For model number WED8300SW0
Hi Luis,
Thank you for your question. In most cases you do not have to replace the electronic control board when an F01 code appears. The error may be caused by a power surge. You may be able to clear the code by unplugging the dryer for 5-10 minutes. If you plug the dryer back in and the code is not displayed, then the electronic control board is fine. If you plug it back in and the code appears again, then you will need to replace it. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!
